Depends on where you live and what you do with it.

Unless there is a law that specifically forbids ownership of it then it is legal.

265.01 subd 1 New York State Penal LAW - CPW 4th.
It's a class A misdemeanor to possess one. Even inside your house.

While that doesn't surprize me about NY, I can't believe even a NY cop would give a rat's a** about it. Matter of fact, I'm bettin' most smart NY cops stay as far away from nightsticks as they can!
Just don't commit sodomy with it and you'll be fine. :D

Even a NY cop?
There nothing wrong with New York. We have a different set of problems than Wyoming, so naturally we have a different set of laws.
Sodomy? What are you talking about?

I'm sure he's talking about the plunger handle incident.

Everybody relax. Not slamming New York cops. Some of the best on earth. Those guys know how to party. Ever been to an NYPD FOP lodge? OHMYGOD! What a time:)
Indeed, I was refering to the guys with the plunger. Ouch.

Would a class A misdemeanor in NY be equivalent to a class 1 misdemeanor in VA or would it be opposite?

I don't know Josh.
In NYS, Class A misdemeanors are the more serious of the two types. Class B misd. are less serious. A crime just one step more serious than a class A misd, is a class E felony.
Some misdemeanors are unclassified, but they have sentencing rules like the class A type.

No, he didn't get banned. Hw quit the place.
The bigger kids were riding him real hard about something, and he left.
Personally, I think they went too far. I told him so too.

I thought the same thing, the poor kid got on and asked some odd questions and got freaking reamed for it. I don't blame him for quitting here for that.
It was fairly entertaining, although juvenile, to watch everyone put the poor lad down.
I was afraid he had shot himself in the face after all that torture.

By the way, I don't think I ever noticed the flashing eyes on your avatar.
I dig.
