SCC Academy (Day)

Wondering if anyone is going to the SCC Academy during the day starting Feb. 20 ? If so, what kind of preperations have you done? Thanks

I went to SCC a few classes ago. Develop good study habits. You might think you don't need to, but we had 12+ that washed out for one reason or another. Work on physical conditioning as much as possible. (Running, stair running, pushups, situps, etc.). The Academy is not the place to get in shape. You should be in shape before you get there or they will torture you. Also remember they still have drill instructors and it's normal to get screamed at. You and your classmates should think of yourselves as a team. Help each other and and your time in the Academy will go faster and be more of a pleasant experience.(Not sure if pleasant is exactly the right word, but it will make it easier to deal with) Don't talk bad about anyone including the instructors. Every group has a smart ***. You don't want to be that person. Keep your mouth shut and do as you're told and you'll be fine. Watch out for a retired Hispanic Captain from SCSO who teaches PT and Defensive Tactics.(Don't want to use his name on an Internet forum, but you'll know when you meet him). He's a good guy, but he'll work your a** off. Good Luck!

I don't think he is hispanic; Possibly from New Orleans? Many of us wonder if he is human... I know he is over 60, can run all day, do pushups till you are tired of counting, do pull ups for 45 minutes to an hour, and has counted to infinity. Twice.

And it may be a myth but they say that he has been to Mars. I guess that would explain why there is no sign of life. Bottom line, he's tougher than nails.

One of my classmates told him he was standing in an ant pile.....so he steps back reaches down picks up a handfull of the ant pile, and made the recruit run it with it.

Easiest way to go.......get rid of it. You're allowed to have facial hair so long as it doesnt extend below the upper lip and is kept neat and close trimmed. But to be honest, it is much easier just to shave it off for the two weeks of DI, then have to worry about being giged on it.

I had a goatee. Shaved that. Now just trimmed mustache. Oh well I could shave that off too. Wish I could shave off some of my tattoos LOL :D
