There was a really good article in todays editorial in the democrat and chronicle about a young couple that has moved to Raleigh NC. They own a home in Holley Springs NC
would you ever move back to NY???
NO we love NY but we pay 4 x less in property taxes here then we would back there.

I love NY, too. But with any luck I'll be getting hired as a cop in SC. No vehicle inspections, no front plates, no sales tax, no state income tax... I could go on all day.

Yup agree with it all. I would move back to the Charlotte area in a heart beat.
The reason I left was because my wife did not like it there

I'm pretty sure SC has a state income tax & sales tax, you may want to look into that. Although it probably is a lot less than NY's.

not to mention walking in t shirt and shorts in feb
my sister has a home thats like a walk to the beach down in georgetown and it is great. when you get down there ask the locals about the real beach not the commercial beach it is a awesome place.
:) they do have sales tax but its not NY's.
sadly NY state does not get it with their if NYC is ok everything will be fine albany attitude. The rest of upstate is like this those that can leave are by the truckloads.
Cary NC is another place that is just awesome. one of the best places in the carolinas in my opinion.

CARY, NC--Congested Area of Relocated Yankess (myself included)
property tax in Wake County NC (Raleigh, Cary) averages around .70 cents per $100 dollar of valuation. Thats $2000 per year on $200,000 dollar house.

There's a good amount of NYers in this department and there were 4 of us at the written/physical agility testing, one lived in my neighborhood! I've heard from a cop there that this city's fire department is like 90% ex-residents of NY/NJ. That's crazy.

yea but a supermarket even wegmans is not enough to keep people from leaving ny
plus if your in the raleigh area then haris teeters are probably the closest to a small wegmans.
they even offered wegmans a buyout offer not to long ago as has Krogers. Wegmans will be building more stores in Virginia and is looking for real estate in the raleigh area and other east coast markets may take them forever because at 4 stores a year expansion they are hardly a walgreens or wal mart which can open hundreds of new stores in a year.
