Anyone know which departments in the St Louis metro area let you carry what you want weapon-wise or carry G21? Which ones have liberal light and laser policies (or require/provide them)?

STLMPD carry and issue Baretta 9MM semi-automatic. But when I used to work over there I remember seeing a sgt. in the 9th district with a S&W silver plated tucked in his uniform waistband, and he was still carrying the dept. issue 9mm. Most of the other departments I know in this whole region carry Glocks. Not sure about ST. Louis County police....

I am an explorer with St. Louis County. They carry S&W .45 cal. Tey are talking of switching to SigSauer's though.

if you want to carry a glock 21 normandy pd, bel-nor pd, and bel-ridge pd issue them. st louis co pd issues the s&w 4006 40 cal and are currently looking at different 40's to replace their aging smiths. the st louis city sgt. you seen was most likely carrying his dept. approved off duty weapon.

some dept. let you what you want, but most are the smaller dept. that dont pay well.
