I'd love too but they are so friggen $$$$$$$$$$ now!

I wish I would have bought one three years ago. Now the ones that were 200k are 275k.

Sigh...now that I have a good job though I'm saving up my money and hopefully can buy one in 6 months to a year.

When I first moved out here in late 2000 home prices were pretty reasonable, now they are getting to be outrageous.

I bought a brand new but a very small 3 bdr 2.5 bath, 1250 sqft house in early 2003 for $132,000. My next door neighbor just sold the exact same model for $270,000 !!! To qualify for a loan to buy a $270k home, your income must near $6500/months !! and then your mortgage will be around $1600/month. A friend of mine just bought a
2 bdr condo (a regular apartment that was recently converted into a condo) paid $220,000.00 It's crazy ! I'm so glad I bought when I did.

Me too. I bought a 3 bed 2 bath 1390 sq feet for 150,000 in late 03 also and it's going for around 250,000. I wouldn't be able to afford a home now with the prices so high. (single income)

You guys should compare pricing in other parts of the country, especially here in New York. Haha, its crazy! Yet another reason why I'm very excited to be involved in the testing process for LVMPD. Cost of living, especially in regards to purchasing a home, is a world of difference from here to there. Even in Rhode Island, where I currently rent my apartment, for what I pay in rent, I'd live very nicely in Las Vegas. I'm excited to be flying there the week of the 21st for additional testing. I'll hopefully have a chance to become more familiar with the area, houses, climate, and department a little bit more.

I didn't make anywhere near that much and I qualified for $330K. Paid $275K and my mortgage is much more than $1600!

to qualify for that house you would not need that kind of income unless you had the worst credit ever known. I means thats pretty ludacris, dont wanna be rude or anything but do some research before you post stuff like that. Prices here arent bad especially being a police officer. Remember you can always compare it to LAPD or NYPD and look at the salaries and housing costs, i think you will come to a different conclusion.

Exactly and speaking from personal experience on knowing the numbers regarding salary and cost of living for NYPD its scary to think about.

The pool is half way done, if I get into the academy, study sessions will be at my house... ( A bit cold, but jacuzzi will be good to go)

I remember back in the days a house with 3 bds and 2 baths would cost 60 to 75k. But those damn Californians ruined it for us natives that were born here. Now I live in a piece of **** trailer. Hopefully I get the po po job and get the hell out of it, but we fixed from the inside out more or less brand new, but who the hell wants to live in a trailer? Also I feel terribly sorry for those who did live in trailer parks all over vegas and had to vacate their homes so new houses can be built. I swear people are so money hungry. And no offense to the people from California you saw a great deal and moved your asses on over, but do you see what happened to our nice little city with not so much violence and not so much traffic and not so much friggin houses and buildings of vegas valley. And barely no desert to go off roading. son of a bitch! :(
