View Full Version : Would You?
I Work For A Department Of Over 300 Sworn Officers. Our Chief Parks Right Next To The Door We Go Through On The Way To Breifing. I Noticed That The Inspection Sticker Has Been Out For Two Years. I Was Joking With My Buddies And Said I Should Write Him A Ticket And Leave It Under The Wiper Blade. The Parking Is Inside. All 15 Guys Around And The Lt Told Me They Would Each Give Me $50 If I Did It And Signed The Ticket. I Have Not Done It Or Nor Do I Plan To. Just Want To Hear Your Thoughts.

I'm not sure that would be a real good career move.
But your buddies would love you for it. You'd be a hero for the day, and a goat for a year. I say go for it.

PO36, I see from your profile that you are still a Rookie. As others have said, this would not be a good career move. Yes all in fun, it would be a good joke, however, no job...no joke.
I understand what would happen that is why I was asking what you thought . I wanted to bring some laughs in. I like to make people happy (hints that I am still a rookie). I am working a deal with the Cheif for April Fools. I will not make my buds pay.

Saw that my Chief's squad had expired plates. (regular passenger plates) I wrote the ticket out and signed, (not my real signature) asked another officer to put it on his car, and while he was doing that I took a quick picture of him doing that.
The next day I showed that to that officer and he freaked out! He thought for sure he was going to catch a few days, but what he didn't know is that our Chief was in on the joke too. Our Chief called him into his office with the picture printed out and sitting on his desk. Our Chief was yelling at him telling him that he is now on foot patrol. After a while of our Chief BSing him he told him it was all a joke. Got love immature jokes like these!!!
My advice to you P036; Get someone else to do it.

depends on how the Chiefs since of humor is.If he is a good guy that you can laugh and poke at,I'd write him one.If he is straight laced,I would write him one...................but be sure and have your equipment ready to check in and another job lined out.

Gota love small town dept.'s. :D
My chief bought the house next door to me so we see each other all the time. And yea, I'd tell him the sticker was out but I don't think even as easy going as he is, Would I have the nerve to actually write him a ticket.

Hey, if he's the chief, he can retract the ticket, right?
I think I'd do it as a joke, but I wouldn't issue a real ticket. That's opening a can of worms you probably don't want. Then again, it all depends on the chief's sense of humor. I work PT for 2 departments. One chief I'd do this to in a heartbeat (he's responsible for my last serious hangover, so I owe him one anyways). The other chief is cool enough but has a flash temper and I'd feel like I was poking at hornet's nest.

Give the Lt $50.00 in front of evrybody is roll call and tell him to do it
Or
Go see Chief tell him that you want to give him ticket (as a joke) on other guys. He can come into roll call and congratulate you on having the balls to do it and that he'll look forwrd to promting sucha gutsy officer. But also tell him you'll split all the money collected 50/50 with him. I would bet he would do it
Just don't be fall guy for Lt and the others
