Jefferson County Academy

Has anyone had any experience with the Jefferson County Police Academy? I am starting in August (I think), and was just wanting what you thought.

I don't have any expirance w/ the Jeff Co police acadamy, but some of the officers whom I worked with and know said that it was a good deal for them. I'm sure that you already know that they have a part time and a full time acadamy. Best of luck to you.

It's ok just your average academy, but no great shakes. The instructors are mostly Jeff County Deputies. The war stories are unreal, but then Jeff County is completely Unreal.

I went through mineral area police academy and it was awesome, but i have heard Jefferson College Academy gets better every year so Good Luck and have fun with it.

I am looking to start in August myself. I am in the process of finishing my application. I have know several people to go through it and they have all said good things. I'm sure all you have to think about is who's hiring come June next year! Good Luck, Hope to see you in there!

Yea I'm thinking about going to JeffCo myself. I get My Class A and my Associates. Do they hire people during the academy, or do you graduate and then start applying??

I'm not really sure about that. I may be wrong, but I think some departments like to hire people when they are close to finishing the academy. I know they have good placement in the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

That's one of the Dept's i would really like to get hired on with. Is it true that you get a take home car after FTO?

Just curious if any of you who were going to try for JeffCo's program went through the interview. I went through and I'm just waiting on the response. I believe they let people know this week or next. I had no idea how many applicants went through the interview process. Hope to make it in and see everyone in August. Let me know how it went.

Yeah this week is it I take it. I had to go to the office Thursday to get a form notarized they seemed to be busy working on all the applications. Does anyone have an idea about how many applied?
