California Officer Hit Head-On By Wrong-Way Driver

SAN DIEGO -- A California Highway Patrol officer was injured after she was struck by a wrong-way driver in the Southcrest area, 10News reported.
The crash happened at about 11 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 5 just south of the Interstate 15 connector.
The CHP got a call of an elderly woman driving southbound on the northbound lanes. Several CHP officers responded and one was hit head-on.
"The CHP officer was trying to run a traffic stop to avoid a head-on collision, then the driver subsequently hit the officer," CHP Sgt. James Whitney said.
The condition of the officer was not immediately available.
It is unclear if the driver will face any charges.
