Well, I just got back from the dreaded psych interview with the shrink. Actually it only lasted about 10-15 minutes, though I'm a little worried I might have said something stupid. He asked what another person might do that could make me angry. Now I'm not really the type that gets angry very easily, so I wasn't sure what to answer (I guess I should have said exactly that), but I said "maybe if someone is particularly rude to me for no reason." He then said "and how do you react to that." I said, depending on who that person is, I would either ignore the person or tell them they're being rude.
Now, clearly, that's not a great answer for someone who wants to be a cop. I was an auxiliary for a year and now I've been a cadet for 1.5 years. I deal with rude people all the time - I don't take it personally and thus it doesn't really ever anger me per se (save an extreme case or two).
I was nervous because I know this guy is the only thing left standing in the way of starting my career. In searching for an answer I said something dumb that doesn't really apply to me much at all. Is this a potential disqualifying factor?
(Otherwise he only asked about mental illness history in the family, drinking and drug use, and what bananas + oranges have in common. I think I did fine with all that.)
