Recently Governor Blunt had talked about removing the residency requirement for the St. Louis Police Department. Does anyone know if anything has come of that? I'm ok with living in the city but my wife is not. I plan on applying as soon as I lose enough weight. :o Thanks for any info.

Govenor Blunt has nothing to do with it, they will remove the requirement over several alderpersons dead bodies, I would have gone there long ago if they did not have the requirement.

I live in Kimmswick and I start the Academy in August. I need to get in shape!!! So if anybody else is looking for a work out partner let me know! I go to the 24hr fitness in Arnold.
Also, I have not decided yet on St. Louis County of Jefferson County. Do any of you have an idea on which i would have a better chance at making detective?
thanks

I have known folks that worked both, Jeff is insane, not the department, the calls, I have been told that there is no downtime, call after call after call. St louis County is a good department, but they are not a growing department, they are still hiring but they are not expanding, and they are a new city formation away from decreasing.

I talked to St. Louis County Police Dept, and their pensions are great! The only bad couple of things I have heard about Jefferson County is the pay is low and also, if you do make it to detective they are going to start doing only 2 years at a time in that position. But of course, it is closer!
