Birmingham Alabama

anyone here have any knowledge of the Birmingham pd? They have a very vague website, and I was unable to locate any posts on this board or others. Any BPD cops here? How is morale? working conditions? work schedules? equipment? any info will be greatly appreciated.

I know very little about Birmingham PD but, I spent a month in LA after Katrina (Military). Birmingham sent a good 14+ guys to the area I worked, and I can say they were pretty high speed and squared away. I worked with them on occassion and they were great guys, up to date equipment (both tactical equip, and vehicle equip), and seemed to love the job. Now obviously this was a mere handful of the PD but I was impressed (same for the LV Metro, and Boston Sheriffs deputies I worked with).
It's not much but it's what I know.

I live in North Alabama and I have heard mostly good things about the BPD. I would think it would be a good place to work. The traffic is probably the worst in the state. I know that alot of that has to do with it being the largest city in the state. But the interstate that goes through it has a ton of wrecks and if you get on you can expect a lot of time spent on the fender benders.

But like most Alabamians I think you would like it with the dept and our state. If you are interested in the BPD you should call and they will give you the info you may want. Also Check out the Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept. I think they have a post on 911hotjobs.com.
