SCREWED

I just graduated a university sponsored academy in august and went to work for a small department about 50 miles from where I live two weeks after that. It wasn't my first choice but it's a great place to learn all facets of law enforcement (not that I've had enough time to do that) instead of just patrol or traffic, etc.
The pay is low and the work load is heavy but I'm thankful that I was given an opportunity so soon out of the academy.
With that being said, I applied with my first choice of departments back in august as well. I was invited to take the written and physical skills portions, went on to the interview, and then got the letter stating "We're not hiring you for the one position we have today but you have been selected for our eligibility list". So, about 3 weeks ago I get called in for them to start my bi which I, of course, passed. I took the physical yesterday along with the psych. evaluation and flew through that so on friday I'll be signing my final offer letter. Woohoo.
I've read different posts regarding leaving one department for a better opportunity after only being there a short time and I too was faced with that decision but luckily my superiors have no ill will towards me for bettering myself and are supporting my decision as best they can.
So, no more 50 mile one way trips to work (now it's 5 minutes :D ), a significant pay raise, take home car, better equipment (other than going from a G31 to a G23 :( ), better training, and more opportunity for advancement.
Sorry for the book but I'm pretty stoked right now.
