For anyone interested, I was watching the news tonight and they were talking about the Georgia State Patrol being short of troopers. They said they were about 200+ under the allowance.

So anyone that thinks that might be interested should apply..

The Georgia State Patrol is short staffed because of they are more worried about tradition than keeping enough Troopers out on the streets. They make it extremely hard to get hired and until they change this shortage will stay the same sadly the people of Georgia will have to suffer until they decide to put public saftey first and tradition second.

I'm not from Georgia, but I am curious about what tradition you are talking about. Please fill me in!

I am talking about the good ole boy system you basicly need know some one on the inside to stand a chance making through the hiring process. The written exam is simple but a lot of people including my self have failed the test. Why would you have a test that has a personal questionaire sheet about yourself asking if you have a college degree. A college degree is not required for the position all personal information can be turned in during the back ground investigation. I know why they failed me and it was because I did not have a college degree. You simply do not get a fair shot at the position anyway they are under paid so they can keep their nice shiny car.

They are underpaid, and you have to be willing to transfer to any part of Georgia. .---There are some pretty dumpy towns down here.. Not for me

That is why I dont go far from the surrounding Metro Atlanta area..LOL

I've heard they're accepting lateral transfers for Georgia officers, so they wouldn't have to go thru the whole 20 academy... BUT I can't find anything to back it up. Just a rumor I heard.

Have not heard that, but it would make sense. Think of the money and time they would save.

The academy for the Georgia State Patrol was 32 weeks unless they have changed it since 2002.
