I start at the DBCC BLE class on 08/23/06.

How was the class?

I heard bad things about DBCC on another forum:

I'll be totally straight with you, try going to another academy.

They have NO phyiscal training, and I believe NO uniforms. It's not para-military either, same thing as college except they throw in defensive tactics. I've heard stories about that place, and they are not good ones. Just don't give good quality training. Academy's carry a Rep when you apply around here. You tell a recruiter you graduated from VCC where Orange County send's their recruits, and it looks a lot better for you. SCC is a good one as well.

Any truth to that?

Since you are already going to that academy ( are you pre service/self sponsored?) find out exactly what area/state agencies hire from that academy-then apply of those Depts. Its the same here in CA. a few academies aren't that highly thought of ,despite teaching the saem state certified curriculum-sounds more like Dept heads egos...........

DBCC was great and I enjoyed my time there. The academy staff and instructors are top notch.

Go in with an open mind and don't listen to other peoples opinions.

Find out for yourself!

*Important*
The CMS training program can trip you up at times.

1. Stay awake
2. Pay close attention
3. Listen to what your instructors are saying (just don't hear them)
4. Participate
5. Don't get involved in any Bull Sh%t
6. Get everything you can out of the training
7. Pass the state test
8. Then get a job

Good Luck!!!!!!

Just and update for y'all. I am less than 1 month from graduating from the DBCC BLE and I received two conditional offers from greater-Daytona Beach area city police departments.

I took one of the offers, went through the motions, and have a job next month.
