UK Cop needs advice [Archive] - Police Forums & Law Enforcement Forums @ Officer.com

Hello all,

Am trying to get across to the US but keep hitting snags. Is there any Agency that helps with the application and sponser of a UK Cop to join a law enforcement dept, although I am aware that I cannot be a Police Officer until becoming a citizen which would be my ultimate goal.I have 20 years policing experience in London England. Hope that someone can help.

My sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the recent hurricanes and best wishes to all my fellow officers in the US.

I know in Arizona you must be a US Citizen to be certified as a Peace Officer. Having said that, if you don't mind working corrections for a few years you can work for Arizona DOC with a green card. It usually takes 5 years to become a US citizen; if you want to stay in the general criminal justice/LE field while waiting you might think about that. Feel free to PM me if you'd like more info.
