What can Ii expect from the academy? I am going in December. I run a bit and I am in decent shape, but I have heard rumors of 12 mile fun runs.
Also, does the academy observe any holidays?

A buddy of mine who went last year(Class 394) for Gilbert PD said their longest run was 11 miles, motovational run at the end of the academy.

The longest run you will go on will be about nine and a half miles to ten miles. That run is the last run you do just before graduation. It is a fun run. On average your runs will be between three and five miles. The first month sucks but it gets better after that.

What agency are you with?

Good luck

What can Ii expect from the academy?

Misery . . .

but it's worth every flutter kick, every mile you run, every rock hard punch you take to the head during boxing, every *** chewing you take and every threat from an instructor to send you home a loser.

Upon graduation you will be a "Guardian of the Night" and if you don't use the street survival training provided to you through out the academy, you could become a statistic . . . crippled or dead.

The streets are growing meaner every day, so remember, "there is the philosophy regarding the way things should be and then there's the ugly truth."

Life ain't fair, especially for a patrol hog.

Enjoy:-)

Time for trail runs! PT depends on your class Sgt. When I went, we ran enough, but the class behind us was run by a DPS Sgt. who ran like a jackrabbit! He tried his best to instill physical fitness into all his recruits. Loved to see them coming in after their runs! :)
