I am anxious to start the academy and begin the challenge of becoming LE. But: from what I have heard in St. Louis County and Jefferson County the prefer bachelors degrees. By the time I finish my degree I will be 37.....will I still have a good chance of getting hired on or sponsored? Or should I go a different route? Any suggestions would be great! I can't stand the thought of paying 50k for a degree and not being able to get on!!!

where abouts is Imperial? Do you know for sure whether they hire those who do not have a bachelors? If they accept those with an Associate Degree, maybe you could get one in Criminal Justice...possibly at a community college. I hope everything works out for ya.

Imperial is about 20 min south of St. Louis. I know St. Louis Co. does require 64 credit hrs unless its the open enrollment. But i dont think Jeff Co. requires any. I have heard though it is better being on with St. Louis County, their benefits are great!
Where are you from in Missouri?

i am from Savannah, Mo, in the Northwest. It is just North of KC. I go to school at Truman State University however, in the Northeast. Have you found an academy, or a department to work for yet?
