I'm curious, do officers cite motorcyclists for wearing sensible (I'm not talking the useless beanie helmets you see cruiser riders wearing) but not necessarily DOT approved crash helmets ?
I'm thinking of picking one up in the UK at Christmas, it meets European safety standards (which are at least as stringent as DOT standards, you know what ninnies us Europeans are :) ), but hasn't been rated in the US, so technically it's not DOT approved.
