as a civvy, i am curious to know:

the drivers that all of a sudden step on the brakes when you, (officer), merge into traffic on the freeway, or the guy, (me), who slowly makes his way through that group, (of what i refer to as F'n idiots).

traveling 65-70 in the left and then have a cop merge onto the freeway. all of a sudden, you see just about everyone step on the brakes to slow down and the hands show up at ten and two.

why? everyone in the immediate area was doing pretty close to the same speeds. nobody seemed to be having driving issues prior to the cop entering the freeway.

i basically make my way through them, (mind you i do it a safely as possible because otherwise, it would be pretty stupid), get back into the left lane, and continue my course going about 65-70.

i have done this several times, in a black 92 mustang, a 95 civic and an 85 toyota mr2. i have yet to be lit up, but i'm going to contibute that to the fact that as i said, i get around these tards as safely as i can.

i have found one thing that seems to be less of an attention getter, it is that i NEVER tailgate. i always keep more than a few cars in front of me. (learned that after one instance of almost eating the back of a pickup truck while on a m/c doing about 70 on the 5 when all of a sudden the freeway turned into a parking lot.)

any opinions....(or rants)....

The thing that gets me is how people freak out over a cop car being near them. They'll hammer the brakes then do about 5-10 under the limit thinking I won't notice them. Just as bad, though are the people that'll be doing 15 or so over and don't even try to slow down to a somewhat reasonable speed over the limit. You pull them over & they act like they don't care & I'm inconviencing them. . That will surely get you a ticket from me

I like when I am behind a guy on a cell phone or a woman singing with the radio when we come up on an officer running radar. I pull my foot off of the gas instinctively as soon as possible (usually 100 yards or so), the driver in front of me waits until they are about 15 feet away and then all of a sudden realize there's a cop there and they slam on their brakes as if the officer hasn't noticed them yet.

 People who all of sudden hit on their breaks, as soon as either city or us (county) pull up behind them, or if they see us pulling up from parking lot. As if, we won't pull you over for something other than speed.

if i'm doing more than 10 over, i generally will coast down to about 10 over. i figure if the officer is getting on the freeway to get me for speeding, why slam on the brakes just to get from 65-70 to 55.

Slamming on the brakes just helps out speeding ticket case.
