Hi, Im from pennsylvania and Im about to graduate from College. Im looking to apply to departments in Florida but I have heard I need to take a test before I can apply any department. Is there a test in which I need to take so I can apply? If there is, where can I take this test, or how do I take the test considering I am from out of state?

You're probably talking about the FBAT. I would contact the agencies you are considering applying with first, each is different. Some require it before you apply, some wave it if you have a college degree, and some will hire you and then make you take it before you go through the academy. Additionally, some agencies also require you to take a swimming test and the agility test prior to applying. Just depends on the agency.

Even if the department doesn't require the FBAT, I believe all Florida academies do require it prior to acceptance. However, with a degree they will give you a pass on the TABE test. You can also take the FBAT remotely via computer if you have a proctor. I took the FBAT at a community college while I was in California. Contact Miama-Dade Community College to take the test remotely.

Yeah, my bad. I guess it is the TABE test that gets waived if you have a degree.

Every agency in Florida is different as far as the requirements for entrance into the academey. A good source is to contact them and they will tell you wheter they require the FBAT, Tabe, or Shield Exams. Another good source is officer.com, go to the bottom where it says agencies, click on United States, and then you will see a list of states, click on Florida, and it will give you a long list of agencies, click on several of them and look at their employment guidelines.
