The majority of the population in the area I live in is dominated by asian americans. There isn't a asian female officer in the county I've applied for yet, as to my knowledge, which I hope to be the first. :D

It's funny how everytime I go on a ride-along, every asian person I encounter just simply stares at me like as if I was a horrible car accident. I guess they never seen a hot asian chick like me in the type of job.

I know some of ya'll are like, "oh please" and laughing at my expense.

(Have a laugh everyone, I'm just trying to amuse myself as I've had a bad day.)

I'm sure you would have gotten alot more responses to this post if you didn't have the MRS. in your name. But, with this group a topic like this is sure to get alot of attention. Of course, It wouldn't hurt if we could see what you are talking about. :D

Ron,

Wouldn't mind giving ya a private show, *ahem*, sometime.

I don't know how many asian officers San Antonio has, but there aren't that many here in VA. I guess they find it out of the norm if an asian person is working with a gun on his/her hip. Especially, someone small like myself.

I was riding along one day and the officer stopped someone for violating a traffic law. He gets out and approaches the person's car and exhanges a few words and comes back to the patrol car and tells me to translate for the woman. Both the officer and I approach the vehicle and I tell the woman, "This officer stopped you because your kids did not have their seat belts on." The woman tells me, "Don't you know how to respect your elders? How dare you give me pointers about the law, you little girl! Get the f*** out of my face, you little b****!" I wasn't even telling her that the kids need to be in a seat belt. I was just translating for the officer. I guess she was upset for getting a ticket.

It's amazing how police officers deal with peole like this every day.

I can understand where you are coming from.
In my department I am the only Indian-American officer and employee(thats Indian from Asia :p )
People that I come across always think I am either black or hispanic.
I am probably one of the few in the U.S.(except NY I am sure).
The Indians here in AK are always excited though to see "one of their own". :D Who knows!
And Fish where in VA are from. I am from VA Beach not to mention a few of my coworkers are from VA too.

Mrs. Fish, beware of some of these guys, ESPECIALLY MikeTx. :D You Just ask me about any you have questions about. And Shooter, sit down, you married man, you. To be honest, Mrs. Fish, if some of these guys, including some of the moderators, didn't have me around to keep them in line, this board would be a mess. If they give you any trouble, you could also contact shortie. She's a 5'2 police officer but can whoop their A**es anytime! lol
Welcome to the board, Mrs. Fish. I am a 52 year old teacher, married 32 years to the most wonderful man on earth when he wants to be and we have a 26 year old son. I don't post my pic because I'm so beautiful, I'd have to go into the Witness oprotection plan to get some of these guys to leave me alone. :D ( live in FLORIDA. WANNA BUT SOME SWAMPLLAND? LOL)

As Ron, Shooter, et.al. said: Maybe a little proof?

Frank, many think Asians are braniacs. I would love to be incredibly intelligent to be a doctor or a nurse. But the joy of my life is to be out there and help keep the streets clean and wipe out as many low life human beings as possible, and not to mention that police work is not for braniacs.

ThatGuy, I am from Fairfax County in Northern Virginia. Northern Virginia is packed with Asians and Hispanics. Do need more and more minorities to join up here. Many are surprised that I actually want to police. And yes, many scorn and underestimate my abilities because of my size. But I tell ya, the sweetest thing is success. :) Once I get out of the academy, the belt alone would probably be too heavy for me to wear with the gun, mace, baton, and radio, etc., attached to it. :o Well, at least, you look like your Hispanic or Black, I look straight up Asian. Can't hide that. LOL.

Mitzi, thank you. No wonder someone had a complaint about Mike. LOL, I hear you. I'll have my karate kicks pumping if and when any of these fellows gives me trouble. You know, me being of an Asian descent, must have the skills my ancestors had.

Shooter, so you are married. What do you want? A mistress on the side?

jellybean, a hot asian male officer? It wouldn't be in a hundred years I suppose. They are all too short....I think we need cops of every...for there are criminals of every...

Fishy, you REALLY gotta watch yourself here. You never know about some folks. For example, Mike Tx is really a 52 year old lady that happens to work on transmissions. And Mitzi. . .well, let's put it this way. Mitzi USED to be Roy!

Oh yeah, one more thing. We DO have several Asian officers on here, though I haven't seen them posting real recently. Now being a guy myself, (and being a STRAIGHT guy,) I couldn't tell you whether or not they are "hot." But I know that at least ONE of them is young, single, and fairly well off financially. Unfortunately, his ego is larger than his radio car. . .

My brother lives over in Alexandria and works for the FTC. One of my good friend officers just left that dept about 2 yrs ago and has been an officer here since. I miss VA but I make more money here than I would there.
Yeah thats true you can't hide the fact that your asian. My problem with people(mostly minorites is that they think I am a "sell out" and that I talk "white". I have the same problem with my culture and others thinking the same when it comes to jobs. Because I am not an in a white collar job I am just some knuckle dragging peasant.
We have some male asian officers here BUT I have NO idea if they are cute or not.

Fish nets huh??

That Guy,

I think sometimes the frustration people feel is not about "color", but about language barriers.

When I drove down to my brother's last summer for his wedding, I stopped in Springfield, Va with the kids at a Mickey D's drive-thru on Backlick Rd (don't ya just love the name?).

It had been a LONG time since I had been there and things sure did change. I spent summers in Alexandria, Haymarket, Manassas, and Springfield, and the area was so built up (Springfield).

When we went to Mickey D's, I asked the woman, who was Asian, how to get back to 95. She looked at me very funny. Now I know I have a very strong Jersey/Philly accent, but I'm not THAT hard to understand.

So once again, I asked very politely how do I get back to 95. Again I got a funny look and she said, "90 fries?" I just kind of shook my head in amazement and said, "No no, 95." So again she says, this time with her head tilted to the side, "90 fries?". I said I want to get back to Interstate 95. She proceeded to turn around and then faces me again, and hands me a brown bag. All I could do was blink.

I have the same problem with a woman from China who works where I do. She's an absolute sweetheart, but I have a very hard time understanding her English. It's very, very broken and it takes me awhile to get what she's saying.

Like I said, sometimes it's not even about "color".

KateyKakes, just to let you know, if and when you should come around Northern Virginia again, esp. places like Alexandria, Fairfax, Annandale, and Tysons Corner area, just give me a holla and I will give you directions. English is not my first language but I sure wouldn't mistaken 95 for 90 fries....

so...did the lady give you 90 fries? lol

Yea, some street names are quite intriguing.

LMAO, no, she didn't give me 90 fries. What she gave me and my children was a much needed laugh.

I used to have a hard time understanding my granny. She was right off the boat from Italy, and even after being in the US for 78 years, she was still hard to comprehend.

Thank you the offer. :)

Are departments really trying to hire minorities?

BrickCop

Alas, I can relate to being stared at as a male Supermodel.

I too live with the curse of being judged because of my piercing blue eyes, lantern jaw, six pack abs and killer smile. :D

To be serious for a second, I don't know of a department that's NOT looking for qualified minority applicants.

Having said that, there's also a lot of reverse discrimination out there but it's not PC to mention it.

It is exceedingly difficult being a white male in today’s society. The hardships rival anything minorities have faced in America for the last 50 years.

Get real. Before you go feeling too sorry for yourselves, realize that groaning about reverse discrimination makes you sound like those liberals you all love so much.

Under certain circumstances, such as being indian, even a traffic stop can be made very tough.

That's the difference between say, California where PC stuff is forced onto the police departments and South Dakota, where they REALLY NEED TO REALIZE THEY ARE IN THE 21ST CENTURY (but don't).
