I live in Illinois, and my uncle wants to take me to the shooting range, and I got a couple of questions, so anybody who can help thanks.
1. How old do I need to be to get a gun card (right now I'm 17), and do I need any training to recieve one?
2. Do I need to have a gun card to go to the shooting range?
Once again thanks for the help.

"In addition to all other requirements, a person who is under 21 years of age must have the written consent of his or her parent or legal guardian to possess and acquire firearms and firearm ammunition. Also, he or she must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor other than a traffic offense or adjudged delinquent. The parent or legal guardian providing written consent must be eligible to possess a valid FOID card."

AND I believe that you can go to the range with as a guest of your uncle's if he has a FOID card.

Thanks, that helped alot. I'm still a little confused about two things. "The parent or legal guardian providing written consent must be eligible to possess a valid FOID card." Does this mean my parent would have to have a clean record so I could get a card? Also, when you say I can go as a guest, will I be allowed to use the firearm?
