Weight vs. safety...trauma plates

I was considering replacing the issue steel alloy trauma plate with a ceramic composite or perhaps a titanium. Any thoughts as to the weight variable, and whether the added ballistic protection warrants it?

I went with a titainum in my Second Chance Monarch 329 Level II as I understand it gives the same protection as the steel but weighs less. I am not sure about ceramic. I think that my provide more protection but weigh a bit more.
