I've seen the webpages that you can register on to donate a room in your home to a hurrican refugee. does anyone know of where we could donate a room to a displaced Cop? being a cop myself, i would rather help a fellow cop first before the general public. Can anyone steer me in the right direction to offer one my home?

here is a link that was in a recent O.com article if anyone is interested...
The Southern States Police Benevolent Association has a database of officers and families needing housing, and a separate database of housing available to law enforcement officers and their families. If you are in need of help, or have housing that you can provide to a police family, go to http://www.sspba.org/ and fill out the appropriate form.

I hope you are talking about local cops needing a place to stay in the local area. Seems to me they need to be in their home communities helping with the recovery effort. We don't have the option to leave, nor should we. We have actually had a couple officers from New Orleans show up here asking for a police job. They left their communities in total chaos and expect us to hire them? Give me a break!

i don't judge anyone for leaving, or why. however, i believe that we, as police officers, have made a commitment to the citizens of our respective communities that we will be there when the sky falls. they count on us to be there, and that's what we get paid to do. i do think that NOPD officers, the good ones, need help, and need a break...so thanks God for the Nat'l Guard. Personally, I wouldn't want to work with someone who refused to return to their post to offer what assistance they could, after they've accounted for their families, of course. That's numero uno in my opinion.
