Next week I have my orals for Washington State DOC. I really want to be a city police officer, but I don't want to start applying until I finish my degree. I figure if I get hired before, I will never get around to finishing school. My main reason for going to DOC is that every road officer I have talked with that has worked corrections has told me it was the best experience to prepare them, mainly because of how they had learned to communicate with the criminal element.
My question is, do I admit in the interview that I only plan on keeping the job for around 3 years? My first instict is yes, honesty is always best. But, will this shoot me in the foot?
