Anyone know how difficult it is to get a law enforcement job back in new york state. I am currently a sworn officer in the state of Georgia but I would love to make it back home some day.

This all depends on which dept you are speaking about.
If you are interested in a large dept like the NYPD (which test multiple times a year and hire thousands a year), then you have a high likelihood of getting on.
Other medium sized depts. (Rochester PD, Yonkers PD, Nassau County PD, Suffolk County PD) test either once a year or every 4-6 years. For example, a dept like Rochester PD (about 700 officers in size) test every year and they usually receive 1300+ applicants for about 25-30 jobs. Others like NCPD and SCPD have thousands of applicants who apply (usually over 10,000). MTAPD, Port Authority NY/NJ PD are just as competitive, you just have to decide where you are interested in testing and start applying.

SCPD and NCPD test every 4 years. Last exam, SCPD had over 70K applicants.
