Can anyone provide information on the following PD's. Like moral, pay, opportunity, shift schedule, or any information you can think of that you know, or heard about that might help me in my decision to apply or not. Or whether or not it is worth even testing for:
Delray Bch.
Palm Bch Cty Sheriffs Office
Coral Springs
Sunrise PD.
Boynton Bch.

I would appreciate any help!

If you pick and choose you might never get hired. If you get on somewhere you don't like, that will at least give you some experience so you can go elsewhere later on.

depends what state your in....

if your living in northern states where growth is stagnated

or where every aspect of fair and square employment is a farce,

i'd say yer right. in fla due to a growing economy, you can just

about write yer own ticket what agency you wanna work for.

jersey158,

There are many opportunities in Florida and some heavy recruiting going on.

Some good resources are

Florida Police and Law enforcement (http://www.Flacops.com)
Florida Department of Law Enforcement (http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/)
Florida Police Chief's Association (http://www.fpca.com/)

One thing you will notice also is that many FLA PD's are starting to require applicants to be completely tobacco free which is verified via testing.

Anyway, good luck.

Delray Bch - I live in Delray. Good department, decent pay. Problem is no take home for 3.5 years by contract.

Palm Bch Cty Sheriffs Office- IMHO, the best of the best. My brother in law and best friend both work there, and that will be my next department in a couple of years. Good starting pay, excellent bennies, take homes right off probation that you can use anywhere in the county, and you are allowed to have family in them. Lots of advancement opportunities, etc...

Coral Springs- Decent department, but they too have their share of problems. Their chief just left for another department. Good money, their contract has to be in the top 3 in the county.

Sunrise PD. - Lots of money problems and morale problems as ftlaud said... I would personally stay away.

Boynton Bch.- Another decent department as far as money, bennies, etc... They just got take homes w/ the new contract.
