Hi everybody.
I was working on a piece concerning off-road vehicles when I came across this story:
"3 weeks ago in Hanover, MA(the next town over from me) my neighbor's son, who's 16 was riding the crannberry bog trails in Hanover. He was doing about 40mph according to police when a steel cable, bolted from a tree on one side of the trail to the other side, set at neck height, severed his head off, the only thing that saved his friend riding with him was when he saw his best friends head in the middle of the trail.
This cable was set in the deep in the woods and was NOT put there by accident. His friend is still in therapy and I still can't get the courage to go out riding in my trails. Police are looking for suspects, but have come up w/ nothing so far."
I have searched the internet and could find no reference to this story. The individual who wrote it claims the police and kids parents have kept the story out of the media. This sent up red flags as I feel the police would be seeking tips and info. from the public let alone the fact that keeping a story from the media is darned near impossible. I checked out the Hanover police website and couldn't find an email address to ask general questions. I would hate to waste any "on duty" officers time by calling them about this. The events in the story are said to have taken place in April or May of 2005. Can anyone legitimately confirm or deny this tale for me. Thanks for your help.
