Can anyone advise or give me any info. about Amtrak in the Baltimore/DC area. In process with them right now for. Just looking to see what anyone nows about them.

if i had to do it over....i;d would have liked to have had a career with any railroad police, but not sure..if they are considered high risk or special
risk , as far as retirement,,,,20 and out or 25 and out.
sure don't want to start police work at 21 and have to retire at 60
as mandated by some states...or to collect railroad retirement.

I have several friends and family members who work for Amtrak (both as police and other occupations). All of Amtrak police works 8 hr shifts currently however it does change with threats given by dhs. The pay sucks but they do get alot of OT. DC has alot of static posts. Dont know to much about Baltimore.
Amtrak has a crappy retirement system based upon a 401k and RRB. You can do 10 years at Amtrak and retire but you will not collect until your in your 60's.

railroad retirement pay is not bad....if yr a civillian
occupation....but the police should be treated and have contracts
just as govermental police do, hi risk, 20 and out or the latest
25 and out...
