Alameda County, Ca.?

I've taken the written and physical tests and had my oral interview for Alameda Co. Sheriff's Dept. I recieved a letter stating that I'm #29 on the eligibility list. My background package was turned in on May 2. I haven't heard anything since I got this letter and, as far as I know, none of my references have been contacted yet.

So I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who knows about this department's hiring process. I know there are some Bay Area folks here. They told us at the background orientation not to "panic" or to call them so I'm not starting to worry... yet.

Also, any advise you could give me will be greatly appreciated. I'm one of the older guys, (45), but I know there were some older than me. The only concern I have is with the physical part. I've been running and working out. I know it'll be tough but I'm in decent shape, (people tell me I could pass for under 30).
