View Full Version : SAPD opinions
Anybody have experience with San Antonio PD? Good, bad, safe, dangerous? Perks if any?
Do they give preference to college education? They don't require it and none of their hiring info says anything about that affecting ranking on the eligibility list.
Thanks in advance.

Awesome department. I was an intern and an applicant all the way up till the oral board when I got hired by Grand Prairie. If you get the opportunity, stick with it... if I had stayed, I wouldn't be a kicked out police recruit from GP :-(
I'm sorry, I don't follow. What do they consider an intern?
I'm not concerned about the money. I'm going to be leaving a very highly paid profession to be a cop. I think I've decided I'd like to work for a large city department. I'm considering applying exclusively to SAPD.
Any idea how they feel about college? I have no college credits. They don't mention whether it affects the eligibility list rankings.
Thanks

If you are concerned about the college credits, why not enroll to take some claases now, if you have a High Paying Job? And then when you are applying, once they get to your background, you can say you are enrolled, etc. Usually if its a position between 2 candidates and everything has been equal up to now...the person who has some college compared to one that does not. The one with college will most likely be picked up, however, you are going with a department that I am sure hired more then 2 at a time...make sense?
If you feeel you can/are a good candidate, then just go and apply. Doesn't hurt you to do that.

Thanks for the advice. I've been considering enrolling but I'm not sure if I'll have time for school because of the demands of my current job. I'm also trying to figure out how the eligbility list thing works -- if I make it near the top of my list because of my entrance score, is the rest of the process simply a pass / fail situation and I'm golden as long as I clear the rest? Or is the list reordered based on Oral interview scores, etc.
I don't expect you to know how it works for SAPD, I'm just thinking out loud really.
