Could someone explain to me the basic application process and projected timeline for TX DPS troopers? Also any information as far as duty location appointment goes would be appreciated. I would be an out of state applicant also and hear that due to the number of applicants it is hard to get hired on your first time applying. Thanks for the help.

Not sure if its true but I have heard from two marines that have become Texas State Troopers that the academy/training is tougher than Marine Boot Camp. :D That and if you come out they will station you anywhere in Texas. You may want to be in the Dallas area and you'll get stationed in El Paso. You don't get a choice. Just what I have heard.
