Hello Everyone. I Am A New Member Here On Officer.com And It's Good To Be Here. I Am In Need Of Some Advice For All That's Willing To Offer. I Am 26 Years Old With Just About The Same # Of Jobs On My Employment History. Alot Of The Jobs Were Part-time Positions That I Held Briefly While Participating In Full Time Academic Studies. I'm In The Process Of Placing A Request To The Ssa For My Complete Work History In Order To Give The Departments As Much Information As Possible About Myself. Will The Force Look At This Unfavorably? Or Are They Looking For Honesty And Someone Who Has Matured By His Recent Steady Employment History?

One thing is it will take some time to get your employment history from SS. Best thing to do is look at your w-2's, w-4's...If the jobs were before you were 16, then a dept. may not look into that. Now if it more then say 20 jobs in a 5 yr time span, well to some that does not look good. However, that will be a determination from your BI. Whether you were taking classes or not. Now another thing is, hows your employment right now? Steady? If not. I would seriously wait until you have some steady work history...at least 1 yr. somewhere. You don't want to make your Invest. run all over gods creation tracking down your boss from Mcdonalds..make sense?

Ask youself this about your question on "are they looking for honesty"...think about that one....

Also just some more advice. It is really hard to read your thread with you capitalizing each word!

Are you trying to find out if you need to list all the jobs? Im assuming that's what it is, gathering info from Irish's post. Wow that's alot of jobs you have had in your 10 year run. Were you fired from alot, or did you 2-week notice it or just quit? I would ask someone at the Dept or Academy and tell them your situation.

Also, isnt that a pain to Capitalize Every Word When You Type? :o

I've done several background checks, military and 2 police agencies. What you need to do is go down to the local SS office and request a 10 year job history report, it took me about a half hour and cost about $30 bucks if I remember right. Do not request it through the SS web sight, it'll take forever. The best advice I can give you is just be honest about everything. Lying or hiding something can hurt you for a long time, even if you go to a different agency.

These were part time and summer jobs during college? If so, then I wouldn't worry so much about it. They will understand that you are not going to keep the same job while going through college and should give you a pass on the number of jobs you have had. If not, be prepared for hard questioning of why you can't seem to be content for more than 6 months in a job and why you would stay with LE.

Thank you for the advice and I went to the local SS office and they informed me that they are no longer allowed to grant this request from the office, but instead I need to complete form SSA-7050 for this request. This process may take up to 4 months for a response.

Go to another SS office then and see if you can bend the ear of somebody who actually likes LE. Tell them you need it for filling out your application and they might give it to you anyway. I got mine for free when I told them I was applying.

from my experience here in MN at the agencies I have applied to, I found that placing those jobs that apply to the field are usually what they are looking for. Too much information, can sometimes, make an employer not want to look over EVERY part of your job history. I would place all relavent jobs that are connected to law enforcement in and only those. This is of course unless they say list your complete work history.

If in your background, which most do...they as for ALL Employment from at when you were 16 at the minimum! Listing just jobs that relate to LE only...no, not gonna get you the job my friend. You must list all employment, Failure to list certain jobs, if you got fired, etc. Will most likely result in you being DQ'ed.
