Yes, I turned in my app on the 8th at 7am. I was the first one, I guess the tie breaker depends on who turns in the app first. I know the chief of the NFTA, and a LT and detective live behind me, so I have a possible chance there. R U

Pat Gallivan laid you guys off? Whats up in Buffalo? I lived there for eight years. I got family on Lackawanna and Buffalo. I know some guys from the NFTA. How many deputies got laid off?

Not sure just how many sheriffs actually got laid off, if any. The news keeps reporting that Sheriff Gallivan is fighting the layoffs by tying things up in court. I am just wondering how many people the nfta will actually be taking from this exam. They have a long history of hiring laterals and people already certified. Not to mention nieces and nephews, etc. Can you say POLITICAL?

yeah thats what I thought. I don't expect to be hired in WNY but it's worth the shot.

did anyone on here get called back for the physical exam?

Depends on what you scored. You had to get atleast a 90 to get called for the physical.

mines on the 25th. I guess from what I hear is that they only hire people they know and ect. I put down 2 local cops as references and there's a guy that I do martial arts with who I know who works for the NFTA. I hope that helps... *shrugs*

How many people failed in your agility test for the NFTA, I know there is another one tomorrow...Did they give you any info as to where you stand for them? What was the agility like?

CAKE
push ups and sit ups. you ONLY had to do the minimum amount and then stop. I had to stop at 38 sit ups, 29 push ups and that was it.
then the run. It was cool cuz it was on a track, sucked cuz it was HOT. alot of people didnt make the run cuz of that i think. I however was one of them.
afterwards they cart you off into the school. where they told abour 15 of us, that we passed and to come on up and get out BI paperwork. He told us we must hand it in at HQ on wednesday. The acedemy starts August 1st....
...they never said that before, and I turn 21 in september. :(
I'm just gonna hand my stuff in and see what happens.... :(

Yea they are pretty strict on the age thing, no worries you'll be on the list anyway. I wonder, I had a buddy of mine take the agility, but I don't know how he did. I wonder how many people passed and are proceeding on out of all the canidates that passed the written. I knew they would loose a lot from the agility. Well good luck to you, and I hope all goes well. I heard from a birdie that there were some sheriff's, BMHA police and other certified police there, who will get preference. I know the kid who got the 100, he was just out of the army, so I know he'll be one of them...

they did lose alot of people during the physical. And there was defiantly ALOT of laid off cops at this thing. I hope maybe they'll consider me if they hire next year...
...I'm still waiting on the NYPD. Did they offer you a job sheriff2004? I'm in the quest program and I start my testing again with them in the fall. I ranked 1503 on that exam last year. So i think thats good. I would love to get my foot in the door there.

yea, I know about all the police there. They are all from what i'm hearing going to get hired. Yea I was offered my NYPD job, I have to go out there for the processing. It's a good place to work, the money isn't great, but it goes up and you can become a detective and other levels of police work. A lot of agencies take you on a transfer with the NYPD certification. The NFTA would be nice, but it's only $11 an hour for the academy and $17 after that. No overtime and no off duty jobs....tough living.....I was ranked 1001 on the Feb 26th exam...I guess all i have to do is fill out paperwork and take a course...
