Does the CHP use tasers? Just wondering. I know you guys use OC.


I know the east coast uses them well (according to LadyLawman- in FL.)

No but at our most recent association meeting the Commissioner mentioned the department would be testing several less than lethal weapons in the near future.

Yea, but at the rate CHP gets new weapons most of those testing them will be retired before any hit the highway :D

That, and the technology will be outdated too. Just like most govt agencies, we get the best equipment the least amount of money will buy.

Okay thank you guys.

I just wanted to know if the agency used them. I know APD (Alameda PD) doesn't use the tazer but they use the OC. So I thought I'd ask.

I am prepared to go through whatever the CHP or any academy puts me through especially if it helps me pursue my "dream" job.

That is the attitude everyone likes, don't have to be with them or know that many of them to figure that out. I have known quite a few in my day and all very good high speed/low drag type of guys.
