Well, Dallas has me back in backgrounds. I had a nice long talk w/ my investigator today and we went over everything. He said he is dreading my BI because of me living in so many places. I told him I felt for him and understood. He said he should be able to do it in 45-60 days though which I find quite amazing. Wish me luck everyone.

Godd luck to ya. 45-60 days is pretty decent. My application to get on with my current agency took over 13 months. I know DPD is having moral problems and increasing their number of certified officers will help. I know you recently completed a CA academy, are they going to require you to complete the full DPD academy or a lateral? Have you looked into challenging the TCLEOSE test? If I can be of help with that let me know, I'll be happy to help.

I probably could challenge the TCLEOSE test and pass but they would req' me to do the full 32 week academy anyway. Probably do me some good and I'll actually make more money that way with the GI bill and all.

Currently I'm DQ'd but I'm appealing  I'm trying to get any position I can right now since I figure that if I can get a wedge in the door I'll be able to kick it wide open in no time.

Because I jacked up the academy so bad in 99. I told my BI that if I was my boss back then I would have fired myself. That said, I redid another academy in 04 while working full time and did outstanding. Nothing but good evals. Seems it was not enough to overcome my previous screw ups though. I'm looking at applying for some of the smaller departments in the N. Dallas area like Frisco, Collin County Sheriff maybe, depends. I plan on talking to the BI's 1st before dropping off packets so I don't rack up DQ's and waste my time.

The official wording on the appeal DQ was "job history." The only black mark on that was the 99 academy.

BTW BikeCop, did you ever check out my yahoo group I made for eventually getting into a TX academy?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TXBasicacademy/
I modeled it off of the other one I made while in the academy here in CA

O' I don't know the meaning of the word quit. Sometimes I'm forced to tactically retreat, but give up, never.
