At 5:30 I'll be making my way over to the testing site.

There was no information provided on what to expect on the test, any ideas?

Clothing usually expected to be casual?

Will anyone even talk to me, or just administer/collect the tests?

Always wear a suit.

Wear something very comfortable with short sleeves, in case the testing room is hot, and bring a sweater/sweatshirt in case it's cold. The key thing is to be comfortable, there are no style points on entrance exams.

Some general advice.....your first instinct on multiple-choice tests is usually correct, and if you have no clue whatsoever, choose the longest answer.

Good luck!!

That's always worked in college...why waste ink on the wrong answer. :D

Are cadet programs notorious for working with college students as far as scheduling goes? I would guess that a cadet job is a slam dunk for my internship class i'm required to take.

Always wear a suit.

I have to disagree with that, as long as it's just the written exam. I dressed like a grub for every police exam I took, and it was always my score, not my appearance, that got me to the next step.

Now, for an interview, or any other type of face-to-face interaction with someone from the agency, then it's business attire, every time.

If it's a huge department where there are hundreds of people in the test, dress however you want because they won't notice. However, if it's a smaller department they might take notice of who looks like they just rolled out of bed. I've had tests where less than 15 people showed up and the chief proctored it.

This department is a good sized department, but I wouldn't call it "huge" If I had to guess, I would say less than 80-100 officers. (Slightly bigger city than a neighboring city that I know has 70 officers)
