Im a little confused, maybe someone can help. To get certified do you have to go to the academy first or do you just take a test and then go through the academy??????

To get certified in Fla. you take a test (or several) to get into the police academy. Most police academies in Florida are run by the community colleges. After completing the academy requirments you then are eligble to sit and take the state test which then certifies you in law enforcement/corrections or probation/parole.
Take the pre academy test to get into the academy....take a million tests in the academy....take one big test after the academy......then you can be a cop in florida.....

LOL lets see FBAT, Physical, Psycholgical, Drug, then get accepted 760 hours and a Shizload of tests later then you get to take the State test, then apply take many Physicals, Psychs, Poly's and Drug tests for what ever department gets you to that point that after the hiring then FTO and more tests from there for in service training and what not

Most agencies FTO process is about 12-18 weeks long. Some smaller agencies dont even have an FTO process. With my agency you spend 3 weeks with a trainer for a total of 4 trainers and then take a test after each "phase" of training. Total of 4 tests....if you pass you get to go out on your own.
