Do you have to be certified to transfer to a police dept. If you certified as a Peace officer are their any depts. that will take you with that, and give you the additional training that you need.????

To answer...most likely yes you do have to be certified to transfer, which is why they call it a Lateral Transfer, and usually state you must be certified, meaning you already have LE experience. This is not saying, you worked in a jail at a Sheriffs Dept. Then want to get hired at another Sheriffs Dept and want to be a road deputy, which most likely then you have not gone through a Police Academy, just a Corrections academy, then no, most likely you can not get hired as a Lateral.

As far as the additional training. If they require you to do so, say you need to qualify with their weapons system, etc, then yes they will train you, etc. After my first dept thats all I had to do was qualify on their handgun I was to carry. Then they sent me to whatever school, etc I wanted to attend.
