When you take the poly do they fail you if they know you have lied or do you fail you if you do not meet their standards. Say, for instance, you tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. And it just so happens that the truth is that you have twenty DUIs. Do they fail you for being truthful about that? Or does the fact that you have twenty DUIs go under review?
I don't have any DUIs. I am just using this example to figure out the basis on which they can fail you.

And yet another infamous Polyygraph question...LMAO..
OK here it goes...
Heres the thing. Even if you are truthful, it does not mean you passed or failed. You can say "yes I have done crack 15 times" well...any department you would be automatically DQ'ed for that. So even if you are truthful does not mean you will pass.
They will not neccessarily "fail" you for telling the truth. However, if you talk about things that are not listed in your background and they find out during the poly, then yes most likely you wil lnot go any further in the proccess and not get hired.

+1. To say it in a nutshell, you have to be truthful and you have to have a pretty clean background. Also, a polygraph doesn't read whether or not your are "lying". It reads if you have a physical/phsycological response to a certain topic or question, which is interpreted as deception.
