I currently reside in New Jersey and would like to look for Law Enforcement jobs in Florida. Here are my stats I am 31 years old, BA in Psychology and looking for my first job. My first order of business is to contact the agencies that I am interested in working. I need advice or suggestion from any Florida LEO's. I want to test and interview with as many departments as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There's a ton of information available on this site from other posts. You should be able to track some if it down if you do a forum search.

You need to first identify what part of the state you want to work in as you already pointed out. You'll also have to come down here and take some of the pre-qualifying exams - the CJBAT, physical agility test (which will require a medical clearance) and often times, a swim test. Most agencies I know of require those exams be taken PRIOR to submitting an application.

I'm in South Florida (Broward County). If you have any questions about agencies in this area, feel free to post a message here or PM me.

Good luck!

From what I've seen looking around, a lot of the agencies in SE Fl require all the above mentioned tests prior to submitting your application. However, I've found many on the left coast that will allow you to take care of that stuff once you come down for testing. Collier County SO will take care of you in 1 week. From what the recruiter said to me, come down for a week and if we like you, you're next trip down will be when you start. Also, some agencies will waive the CJBAT if you have a degree. Best bet is probably to make a trip down to test with 1 or 2 agencies that don't require that stuff right off the bat, and while you're down there, take the tests so you can apply to the agencies that do.

My advice to you is pick up and move down to florida. Think of the area that you want to possibly live and work and go there. Look into the local police academies and start that ball rolling to get into one. Once your in the academy and on your way to getting state certified you can start to apply with agencies.

Thats how i did it and it went pretty well for me. If you have any questions about Collier County SO let me know, its where i am. There are enough people on here who work in so many agencies that can really help you out alot.
