Aavixtech was right. It is deff 80%. However, they (FL) never tell you your score when they send the results. They only tell you if you passed or failed. Kind of frustrating if you ask me. I was kinda curious as to how well (or poorly) I did.

if ya pass with flying colors, welcome to Florida......
check out yr agency's carefully, along with t he demographic's of the area.
houses that were 90,000 in 1989 are now 500,000 in my neck of the woods
and 1 block from crack heads, male prostitutes, and hordes or wandering homeless...ya gotta love it..!!!!

The test is 350 multiple-choice questions and has 5 sections. You can bomb a section and still pass on the new test.

You just need to score 240 overall out of 300 to pass. They randomly knock-out 50 questions that may be subjective to answer. You don't know which ones.

You get a pass/fail grade only....no more % based scoring, so you can't go to your future employer and say I got 99% on the state test...but then again you don't have to hide you got a 81%...

Anyone who reads the entire study guide, New Edition Study Guide for the Florida Law Enforcement Officers Certification Examination, should be able to pass. It is a green book, isbn # 166164109X. I got mine at Barnes and Noble; if you want to buy mine (PM me ).

Passed the first time...so did the rest of my EOT class.

and so that must mean the other 26.4% are true?

hold on ya'll that depends upon whether or not you have to take the new cms based cirricullum that is 250 questions you must pass with an 80% no matter what test you take. FDLE started the new training as of July so the test you take maybe the new one I just took in December. from what I understand its alot easier then the traditional test they were previously using.

EOT doens't do the new cms based cirricullum....just the full blow acad.

but that can change....you currently just have to take the traditional test.

As Digital pointed out, the CMS exam is only for those who completed the academy here in Florida. There is a "traditional" state exam for people coming who have taken the equivalency training.

Just for the record, the CMS curriculum is a joke.

spent 10 years in Brevard county as a LEO, it was fun but didn't pay anything, couldn't make a living. Had to move north to find a paying job that was equal to the economy. Haven't thought about the 10-15 or sig 0, 22 and 52's runs in awhile, funny. Good luck on the test.

I think CMS stands for Curriculum Maintenance System, or something like that. It's basically attempts to level the playing field by watering down the topics so anyone anywhere in the state can apply it to their respective agency. The problem with the curriculum is that it uses very generic scenarios that aren't applicable to most situations.

CMS, people were afraid of change...but CMS is working out really well.

Ask any FTO how long it takes to get new officers from CMS acads street ready...

They seem to love CMS

getting a cop "street ready" has nothing to do with the academy. it doesnt matter what academy youre from, being a good cop comes from within. also, the FTO's ability to teach plays a big factor. the academy is just a formality created by the state to make sure that not every tom, dick and harry becomes a cop.

We must be talking to some VERY different FTO's. Virtually every FTO I know slams the crop of new recruits coming out of the academy for not having fundamental skills.

what i find lacking most of all from the new guys is their lack of people skills. they dont seem to know how to interact with people. its like they either come onto the job just to bust balls or they genuinely dont know how to do their jobs or both. if i were the FTO commander, all of our new guys who just graduated from the last class wouldve been fired after phase one of FTO.

MANY OF TIMES I COULDNT AGREE WITH YOU MORE!!!! Working for a Sheriff's Office sucks WITH THE GOOD OLE' BOY system (expecially in North Florida)! Unforunately, I cannot just up and move, due to family situation.
If I had to do it all over agian I probably would have started with FHP then maybe cross-over to city PD.

some FTO's slam it but alot of agencies hadhelp in putting together the new cirriculum. I graduated from the Academy here under the CMS program. my only problem with it is its too damn repetitve. but it sinks in I guess. Although 5 pages for DT on how to make a fist was a bit ridiculous. And truthfully some of these academies shouldnt take kids 19 they should wait till they are at least 21. We had some kids in my academy that I would be scared to have them show up as my back up.. I'd rather take the ask kicking.

Around here the opinion on CMS is it has it's good points and bad points. The problem with CMS is initially it was written by a bunch of PhD's who had no experience on the street. It gets revamped and picked through every year and it's getting better. Some of my instructors were in the groups to fix errors and miscommunications (to put it lightly) in the curriculum. It started out with a ton of issues but it's gotten better with every revision... I'm sure that's why they didn't make it a requirement for all the academies to suddenly switch to CMS immediately... it's been a gradual switchover for most.

lol... gotta love the good 'ole boy system. That's one reason some of the agents I know here have told me to go to the PD instead of SO b/c the chances are greater for upward movement for me as a female.

Whoever told you that was smart and correct.
My biggest beef with the GOOD OLE' BOY system, is that you must agree with management or face punishment, to include being fired.

you had that system anywhere you go whether its city or SO. i work for the city and we have the same thing. just because one makes the top of the promotion list doesnt mean he's gonna get it. the chief has any pick of the top 3. if he doesnt like anybody in the top 3, he can put off filling the position until the list expires. i got lucky when i got promoted, they had to fill the sgts position or they would have lost funding in the next budget, i got the top spot, the other 2 under me were under investigation. if it hadnt been for those circumstances, one of the other 2 ***** kissers wouldve been promoted instead of me.
