Just a few months ago, Jim Rider lost the election after serving eight years as our sheriff in Glades County, Florida. Jim, who has been serving in law enforcement for most of his life in Florida (BSO, Dade, ect.). He has been retired doing what we are supposed to do when we have done our time. Just a few weeks ago, Jim fell ill and has steadily deteriorated. Jim was diagnosed with cancer just recently but has not been able to get the treatment needed as he has been hit at a rapid pace and has not been completely tested and evaluated for the treatment he needs.
Jim is the hospital currently on life support in ICU. Jim has served South Florida during his tour of duty. Because of the progressivness of his deterioration, there has been no time to contact those whose life he may have been a part of in the past. I hope this reaches some of those who do know him and to make you aware of his condition.
Jim is a good man and he will be missed. Please pray for his confort on his last journey. We love you Jim from all of us at the Sheriff's Office.
