We where told to expect a press plane...well the FP NCO didn't know it was a charter jet from Northwest and so as we are sitting there, me in the Ramp patrol F-350 and they on foot a Northwest aircraft comes down the flight line and goes to cross teh redline..FP NCO gets on the radio calls a helping hand "unauthorized aircraft on the ramp!' well I do my job I hit the lights the siren and go to block the ramp...the local media is all set up and rolling as the Chief Security Forces and the USSS agents are frantically trying to get on the right channel to call me off as they knew it was the press plane....funny story :)

I hate when they use too much wax at the Copenhagen factory. The lid sticks and you have to pry it off, thus bending the cap into a shape which will not fit the can again. I've noted from your posts that you are applying with CHP and are really jazzed about it. I hope you succeed and that it brings you all you want. However, before you jump off the deep end there are some issues you need to be aware of.

CHP is one of the largest, best paid and most well equipped law enforcement agencies in the state. They have investigative units in each of their divisions, maintain drug dogs, provide general police services to state facilities in major cities, have a statewide dignitary protection unit, and all sorts of other things. However, the fun stuff only constitutes about 5% of their work. The other 95% of their folks do nothing but drive up and down the highways looking for traffic violations, writing tickets, investigating accidents and last but not least, keeping traffic flowing (which is one of their biggest priorities). Believe it or not, this is incredibly boring work.

Once out of the academy, you will quickly forget what you learned about general law enforcement because you will have little opportunity to apply it when most of your time is spent doing traffic. (This is not uncommon when you go into a specialized police agency like CHP.) In addition, CHP policy generally requires you to turn any non-traffic related criminal activity over to the locals to handle. As a result, you will be looked upon by the locals as incompetent, except when it comes to traffic matters.

Again, its a good agency. But I suspect you will never feel like a real cop nor will your peers look upon you as an equal. In listening to your posts it sounds like you've got a lot on the ball and probably can make it in any department. I would urge you to give a lot of thought to what you want to do as a cop and look at other agencies before you commit to any one of them.

According to my biology class it is nearly impossible to OD on vit. c. Ie you'd have to take in excess of one of those huge bottles to actually do something. So if your taking a vit supplement and it has something like 500% dv like mine, don't worry about it, your body will pass it out quickly :eek: same with most other vitamins
