I'm a mom and I"m protective by nature. And I really can't stand seeing things happen alot and not being able to do anything about it.
I would just as soon see drug dealers get shot in the head and get taken out of this world than to be able to keep doing the harm that they do.
(not that I would do that unless in self defense or defense of other innocents, ) but you catch my drift.
I DO like to help people, but as LE you're helping in different ways, you're helping get the scumbags off the streets that HARM people..
I deal with people all the time at events, and we can pretty much detain them until the officers get there, but that's about it. I've been choaked, punched, hit, spit on, bitten.. And you know what? I'd just as soon be able to slap handcuffs on them, or oc them and send them to jail then to have to try to avoid hitting them back to keep myself from charges.

I can go on. I have several good reasons.. to me they're good anyway.

Well.. my friend, who is a Sgt. had to deal with it and it upset him pretty bad(and trust me..this man DOES NOT upset easily).. He had to face the reality that if the kid pointed the gun at anyone else, he'd have to shoot the kid...Or the kid MIGHT actually pull the trigger on himself.. It worked out that the kids dad got there and talked him into handing over the gun.. But DAMN those situations can be nervewracking..
As security, I haven't had to deal with anyone with guns just yet, but I have had to deal with a suicidal girl.. had to hold her down til the ambulance got there. I had to hold her vs. the men holding her. She was all drugged up and threatening suicide. Screaming, kicking.. (she's the one that bit me) I kinda sorta slammed her into the wall after that.. (gently of course) :D

I like working with people of all kinds, and I feel that there really is no more noble position than that of a police officer. I also want to put people in jail who break laws.
