The media continues to bleat about our treatment of terrorists suspects. I do not give a rat's *** that the US is shipping Terrorist suspects to other countries for interrogation. I'd venture to say most Americans feel the same way.

When greeting most people with "Hi how are you"? they usually smile and reply "good" and keep walking. Why is it when you greet old people with "Hi, how are you"? they proceed to go into great detail about how their hemmoroids are bothering them or worse.

Why do some women shun the term "badge bunny" as if that's a bad thing? Cops need groupies too. :D

Maybe it's just me but I kind of miss the "Great Biker War". It was fun trading jabs with some of them.

I'm still waiting for the O.com folks to update these lame smilies. I mean what the hell is that ----> :p :o Lame.

I saw a Frontline documentary on PBS about some units serving in Iraq. God bless those troops , their commitment to duty is awe inspiring.

As a kid I hated getting dragged to church but now I love church and drag my kids.

The Patriots lost a lot of good players and their coordinators I hope they can keep it together next year.

I tried to get into watching NASCAR, I really did but I just can't get into it. It's still just cars driving in circles.

I have no time for people who whine that only fit and attractive people are on most reality TV shows. You want fat and unattractive ? Turn on the Food Network.

I like listening to Howard Stern but he's nuts if he thinks I'm gonna fork over money to listen to him on satellite.

Speaking of Stern I wonder...What do all the O'Com chicks look like naked? :eek: :confused: :D

Good topic.

Something that's been on my mind lately....

Most of the "old" guys in my dpt have either retired already or are about to. It is very sad that we are losing all that experience and institutional memory. I have a great respect for their years of service and wisdom/experience.

And my newest thought....

No, you don't actually want to see me naked. It would more than likely blind you :eek:

You did not lose rep points from me... in fact, you gained. I predict this will be a wonderful thread.

Too many to list in one post but I'll pick 'n' choose a few.

Finals is next week, and this quarter is almost over. What a relief. I'm getting impatient to hurry up and graduate (2 years and one quarter left), but I still don't know what I'm doing after school. :confused:

Why does every phone conversation with my mother last at least 20 minutes whereas any conversation with my father won't last more than 10?

I enjoy knocking back a few beers now and then, but drinking is overrated.

Thoughts from a small island,

Where did the army go ? there used to be one, i'm sure there was ! i was in it either that or the scouts were more hard core than i gave them credit for.

Not a dig at the US but why does my government do what ever Bush tells them to do ? I didn't vote for him.

Why have the exhaust, the breaks and the power steering all packed in on my car the month I get lots of over time pay. I wanted to blow it all on CD's beer etc, you know fun stuff ! Now i have to spend it on the damn car.

Why are new starts such arrogent little b*stards with no respect for senior cops and uniforms like bags of sh*t

I joined the Army as pretty much a matter of self-preservation. I went to a military high school, so when I went from that highly structured environment to the "anything goes" of a college, I didn't adapt well. I dropped out of college, which didn't exactly please my father, who had footed the tuition bill. Under the threat of eviction, I went to the various recruiting stations. At that time;

Marines - Wanted a 4-year minimum, no guarantee of MOS (military job).

Navy - The uniforms were too gay for me.

Air Force - Needed a 6-year minimum for a guaranteed MOS.

Army - Only wanted a 3-year minimum, with choice of MOS.

Coast Guard - Had a year-long waiting list to even be considered.

The Army was also offering a $2000 enlistment bonus for Combat Arms (Infantry, Armor, Artillery). That cinched it for me, since $2000 was a lot of money to an 18 year-old back then.

Long story short, I went Infantry, lived the life of a grunt, dug more fighting positions than I care to remember, ate cold C-Rations and MRE's, and generally lived like an animal while in the field.

When I was in the field, lugging a 80lb+ rucksack, I used to think back to the Air Force recruiting brochure that would take you through each week of AF basic training. Every week would end with "And you still haven't been issued a rucksack". :rolleyes:

A guy that was in my academy class was prior Air Force, and during a break I asked him how he qualified with the M-16. His answer was "We didn't qualify, it rained that day". That day.....as in singular? Rain? :eek:

So...to answer the question, the Air Force has a much easier basic training, better facilities, better food, and their MOS jobs relate much better to civilian life. An Air Force SP (at least back then) assigned to law enforcement duties did just that. They were the cops for the base. Army MP's would spend some time doing LE, then go into the field as glorified Infantry.

Ok - women want a man that is stable, in every aspect, able to tell us how they feel, sensitive to a crisis, and able to just listen, versus telling us how to fix the problem. We want to be able to be ourselves, not what you expect us to be, we want to be able to fart, burp and spit if it is necessary. :D We want YOU to make a decision once in a while and to follow through on that decsion, but if the decision is whether of not to purchase a large item, then we want to be able to add input. We want to feel sexy AND respected! But sometimes we want to just be alone, and not have you ask what's wrong! We want to be able to go out and have a few drinks with the girls, especially if you are going to go out and have a few drinks with guys. Soemtimes we even want to be invited out with the guys!

Its tough being ill with a munchkin who needs so much attention. My fever came back briefly..popped an Advil. I will give myself 1 more day of this fever up and down thing then see a doctor. I had a splenectomy 11 years ago and it would probably be in my best interest to catch any infection brewing before I get too ill.

No more random thoughts for me....it hurts my brain!

Nah, chances are probably only 1 in 5 that we're drinking coffee somewhere. If we're not drinking coffee, we're either eating, picking up our cleaning, socializing with an attractive member of the opposite sex, or we're on a real bonafide police related call somewhere else.

I just watched the Spongebob movie/CD with the kids. It was pretty funny. Hearing them laugh is magical.

Ties into why I hate our school newspaper...so many students here whine and complain about the Police department taking away civil rights (because they break up riotous parties during Mardi Gras)...they even go so far as to draw pictures of Nazi soldiers with SLO PD emblems :rolleyes:. Then why is it these same students have nothing to say when I rebut that officers are sworn to uphold the Constitution?

Even though there aren't many, great professors are worth so much and I'm grateful to have had several so far in college. Many bad ones too...

That house (I rented at the time) actually burned to the ground on Christmas Eve about 6-7 years ago. Brought a tear to my eye. :(

I would just like to echo most of the thoughts on this thread...I have had many of the same thouhgts and ideas..at least I am pretty sure.

Here's a random thought about a random occurance that just happened to me. While on foot patrol tonight (in some lightly falling snow) I slipped on some ice and flew backwards slamming down onto my back and sending a microphone flying, ouch.

My random thought is, why the hell do I have to do foot patrol out in the snow, when after a recent melt and then freeze theres freakin ice everywhere.

It has some mighty shiney plastic wood on it, though. It takes 2 AA batteries... one to keep time, the other to make the Cheap *** Gold Plastic balls spin back and forth on plastic gears. The engaving plate came blank...I guess I am supposed to pay to have the plate engraved... I think I'll have it engraved as if I'd been a Chief of Police!!

The paperweight watch face I got for 10 years service has more weight than my retirement clock.

My next pistol is going to be a Springfield XD.

why would the same man pick a fight with his tired and ill wife as she drags her sorry sick self out of bed to heat waffle sticks for their daughter because....."I dont know how to do it....Im making coffee" (that he does not even serve his sick wife...*****). The man builds video games and Digital recorders for our television, but he cant heat up 3 flipping waffle sticks.

OK, I've got only ONE stupid question.

Why is it that people with suspended/revoked driver's licenses not only continue to drive, but habitually do stupid things to draw attention to themselves to get pulled over? I mean, if you're driving on a suspended license, the LAST thing you want to do is be noticed by a cop, right? But, NNNNNOOOOOOOOO... They've got to speed, run red lights, drive with expired tags, drive drunk, equipment violations, you name it. They may as well get a neon sign in the back window that reads "Driver of this vehicle has a suspended license - please pull me over." I just don't get it. I guess that's why I always say "If it wasn't for STUPID PEOPLE I'd be unemployed."

Brick: There are many reasons people choose not to have children. A couple of them are nothing that big needs to come out of my body and I AM NOT going on light duty long enough to have a baby! Also.... I do not think you should have children and then send them to someone else to raise (daycare) if you can help it. Therefore, I make the conscious choice not to reproduce. There are reasons, but I am not running the risk of hi-jacking your thread.

I was supposed to do a PT and written test for a dept today but had to cancel due to my firearms class, Dept called back and said I could do it tomorrow! :D That means I get to run 1.5miles when it is 65 and NOT snowing and raining!!!! Also got an offer on a house I own in another state for ALOT more than what I owe!!! :D

Did I sleep the right way last night to make this all happen! Or are my prayers just coming true? (Thank you GOD!)

He's pulling all kinds of stunt. This, however, is not new. He has done stunts to extend his courts. He's not sick, he's being dumb and to advoid jail.

I do agree that the court/judge needs to put down a food and say: " If you play these games, we will hold you in comtempt!" But since he's a POP singer, that'll only upset the public.

When I started on my first deputy job as Prison Transporting. I had a 2001 Lumina and no cage (I swear, no cage!!) and I had to transport a guy who was on his 4th DUI to the State Pen and he had kicked out the Trooper's car window the nite he got arrested. Well, on my way up, he was giving me a hard time, (sitting in the passneger side with cuffs, waist cuffs and foot cuffs on) I slammed on the brakes and I said: "I saw a Pheasant come almost to your side of the window so I braked so it wouldn't hit the car!" He hit the dashboard and started a nose bleed. Once we got to the Bus, he tried to tell the other officers that I punched him in the nose on the way up.He insisted not to be put in a seat belt so I didn't. I gotta love those dash cams! In fact, I kinda lied on the audio from the cam since it was recording the audio and the road. I hit my driverside window with my backhand to make it sound like a Pheasant hitting the window. So then he called me a liar and such, got the complaint in the department, they reviewed it and heard that sound and ruled it was a Pheasant. LOL.

The old 2001 Lumina I used. Saved gas for prison transport but wished the Sheriff would of put a cage in it.

This is the year that I'll finally break-down and buy a snowblower.

No I wasn't that is why I asked. When I goto work. We can't have the tvs on unless they are on cartoons. I work with kids until I change jobs to become a cop.

The last time we had the tv on for a serious disaster was when the airplanes/terriorists killed all those people in 9/11.

I am sorry for the loss of the judge,deputy and court reporter and their families.

The person whom shot them is he arrested or dead too?

I took a test in Nov of 2003. They were really desperate to hire about 6. Good department and good money just had some retire and some go on disability. I then took another local test in Aug 2004. I got hired by that place and still have not heard from the first place. The 1st place hired 2 from the 2003 test and 1 guy got sent to Iraq. so they are still waaaay short.
I think I found a new home and am really glad I took the 2004 test just in case the 1st place didnt really hire. phwew.
Anyone know a guy named Justin Case??? or Richard Cranium, or MichAel Hunt...

I don't know about the rest of the men, but I rather our women dress in the same uniform manner as we do. I rather do my job professionally than to be stalking women with boobs hangin out on the job. Hello! Sexual Harrassment Lawsuit! If they want to hang their boobs out, they can come over to my place and do it, but as on the job, I rather not. Call me stupid, but I respect the women. You don't see me having my Uniform half buttoned showing my slightly hairy chest off, how professional is that?

Thank gawd for Dress Codes. And, thank gawd April 1st is around the corner, I can start wearing short sleeve shirts again, I personally hate long sleeves. The cuffs on those sleeves really irrate me when I'm drivin or arresting someone.

I totally agree, as a woman you want to be treated equal well then act equal dont use your sexuality to land you a job use your head. Look professional when going to a profession unless your profession is the oldest profession in the world. I go to an interview its dress pants a nice blouse and a dress jacket. Hell even on ride alongs I dress professional. I have seen some women on ride alongs wait not women badge bunnies show up in mini skirts and low cut or halter tops. I swear if they are looking to get l@!d they should find out where the single ones hang out at and go from there.
