Now that baseball is somewhat underway, what is YOUR favorite team? If it's the Yankees (spank-me's) just don't post here at all :D

I for one have a passion for baseball (perhaps to an unhealthy extent) and am so glad spring training is finally underway. That was a long winter.

GO CUBS!!!!

And thank you Orioles for taking

The World Champion Boston Red Sox, of course. :D

I think the key to this year for the Sox will be the performances of Matt Clement and Wade Miller. One of them needs to replace the 15 or so wins that Pedro Martinez guaranteed us, and my money is on Miller. He has phenomenal stuff when he's healthy, so if he can avoid injury, you might see two 20-game winners in Schilling and Miller.

That reminds me Delta; DAMN you for taking Clement from us!!!! Even though the number of wins he had last year werent all that impressive, he is an outstanding pitcher and I am very sad to see him go. Treat him well :( :(

That reminds me Delta; DAMN you for taking Clement from us!!!!

It was actually Theo Epstein, but I can feel your pain, having lost Pedro to a f*&^#@ New York team. :D

Clement told the Boston media that he wanted a veteran pitcher to mentor him, and who better for that than Curt Schilling?

Hopefully the power they bought this winter won't turn out to be money poorly spent....Then again, anything is better than last year's lineup.

Been a Red Sox fan since I was born and I will be one until I die. This season should be good with Renteria, Clement and Wells (as long as he stays healthy... and sober). Delta, I for one am not that upset over Pedro leaving, his shoulder probably will probably end his career in the next couple years anyway, I would prefer he threw out his arm on the mets bill instead of the sox'.

Rabbit - My FAVORITE team is the Arizona Diamondbacks! Sorry spent 30 years growing up in Phoenix, and the happiest day of my life was getting a real team, instead of just the yearly spring training!

As far as the Yankees go I have a T-shirt from the 2001 WS that says: It Takes More Than Nine Yanks To Beat Our Johnson! Has to be one of my fav shirts ever! But now I AM ****ED that Johsnon is playing for them...D-Backs managment really needs to pull their head out of their *****, and find a way to keep the good players!

As for the Braves chop, that is one of the most annoying things in baseball. Only second to the drunk guy sitting right next to the microphone. The only reason I really hate the Braves is because every time I watch them, I need to listen to that chant every 5 minutes. Every once in a while wouldn't be so bad but come on! Braves are doing good? Yeah! Lets do the chant! Oh no a strike out? Lets cheer em' up guys! Lets do the chant!

Probably true, but Peter Gammons (espn baseball tonight comentator) said that Pedro probably won't make it to the third year of his contract. The Red Sox must have agreed since they refused to give him more than a two year contract. The Sox are the most intelligently run team in baseball, if they felt it wasn't worth keeping him than they were probably right. I was honestly more upset that they let Cabrerra go, since he played great in the post season, although I definatly can't complain that Renteria is taking his place.

I'm not a big fan of Bonds, especially because he drags *** so much out in the field. He'd be a perfect DH.

I absolutely agree with having a favorite team per league. My AL favorites are the Oakland A's but if you were to pit them against each other, I'd be rooting for the Giants all day long. ;)

The same is true for the 49ers and Raiders, they are my respective conference favorites but I'll take the Raiders any day in a game against the Niners.

I like the Rockies and Twins.

The Rockies are supposed to be the worst team in baseball. At least the stadium is nice and a good spot for beers.

You can get tickets to the Colorado Rockies cheaper than the beer!

Shouldn't be that way with Coor's field.

Sorry, I stopped following BaseBall when the players deserted the fans.

Come Series time I am a Braves fan...got to support the home team and Carolina/Va/upper Fla. has none. Yeah Ted and Jane are Hypocrites to the Max, I know. Outside of Atlanta, my "home" choices are Miami (do they still HAVE a team?) and Baltimore, Both 10+ hours away. I could almost get to St. Lewis faster... AAAHhh, maybe not. But I have Bob Gibson & August Busch's Autograph on a baseball from their spring training in Fla when I was a kid. That was before you had to pay for them.

I simply resent it when they interrupt regular tv for games, now.

Drayton McClain has spent quite a bit of money getting the Rocket to come back for one more year. Everyone here in Houston wants them to make it to the series this year. We were so close last year that we are allhyped up to get the season started. I am looking forward to opening day. Nothing like getting paid to go to opening day, the joys of extra jobs.

Yes, steroids allow you to avoid injury, and heal injuries faster.

Bonds can hit 900 home runs for all I care, he's a complete fraud and a cheat. Hammerin' Hank Aaron will always be the HR King to me, until someone who isn't a juiced-up, Cro-Magnon headed cheat comes along.

Minor league baseball is great.

My wife and I used to go see the Pawtucket Red Sox (http://www.pawsox.com/) (AAA team for Boston) a few times each summer. The level of play is excellent, the players hustle their asses off, box seats are $9, and it's a very family-friendly park. Drunk idiots are not tolerated. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to enjoy it.

One of the very cool things about the minor leagues is that you can sometimes catch major leaguers on rehab assignments from the parent club. In 1995, I saw two former MVP's (Willie McGee and Jose Canseco) on rehab assignments at Pawtucket.

I agree with you again....Maybe they always want raises to pay the raising cost of steriods and to keep the suppliers quiet...

Baseball is a joke anymore, don't remember the last pro game I watched....I think it was several years ago when I was in SF watching the giants and cubs...

But my team was the Reds.... And if people can use steriods...Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame....Cheating is cheating all the way around....

No way did Rose use steroids.

McGwire vehemently denies it, but it's pretty obvious that he used them. One of my area partners is VERY knowledgable about weight training, and he explained to me how it's physically impossible for people like Bonds, McGwire, Canseco, etc., to gain the muscle they did in such a short amount of time, without chemical assistance.

Big Mac never admitted to using, and he never will. The RAT stated in his book that he injected Mark over 100 times durring the 88-89 season and again in 90... Yet on his 1st TV interview with 60 minutes, he said" I only saw mark do it once or twice, and I only injected him once, to show him how to do it"

Durring the 98 season when McGwire and Sosa were at it, he was using ANDRO, and possibly HGH which were both legal at the time, and could be purchased at your local GNC. Many will say that the ANDRO and HGH were a deversion to hide the fact that he was juicing.

As can be said about Sosa's corked bat...

What blows my mind is this... Up till last year, they could be ussing an illegal drug, which was a class 3 felony... and the players union wouldnt let them test, because its an ivasion of privacy... Yet they test for pot, and coke and what have you...

I love it, get suspended 5 games for having a corked bat... 3 games for punching AROD in his sissy boy nose... Use an ILLEGAL drug, and face up to 30 years in prison if caught... NO PENALTY in baseball world...

:) Seems that way, but no. I was born in '64, 2 years before they came here from Milwaukee. They pretty much sucked all through the 70's....we had some fun in the early 80's, winning the old NL West in "82.

Seriously though, we should have more than one World Series to show for all the regular season success we've had for the last 14 years. I'm still proud of 'em though. If you think about it, we have a whole generation of Braves fans (who are now adults) that have never experienced a losing season. That in and of itself is pretty awesome, even if we do only have one World Series win.
