Hey, anyone else watch Third Watch?
I used to , but only get to see the old shows now. Never home on Friday nights!
Just curious if anyone had any good/bad opinions about the show.

I used to love it.., The 1st 3 or 4 season anyways. Now its just focus' on the police, and its turned into a soap opera. You never see the FD or the Medics anymore. I liked it better when the show spread it around a bit.

I dont watch to much anymore. I'll take the shield and rescue me, over third watch anyday...

I still like the show, but it's become too "soapy."

Yeah, I haven't got to see any of the new ones for a long time. Just end up running across the old ones.
The last one I saw was when that Medic guy went nuts with the gun in the firehouse and Sully had to talk him out.

I haven't seen Rescue Me. and don't really like the Shield, but I haven't really ever sat down and paid attention to it, either.
Not a whole lotta time for TV.

I have been watching it since it started. And I will definitely agree that they focus on the PD too much...

But I still think the show is really good.

I am waiting for the old episodes to come out on DVD. I just wish I got A&E channel here, becuase I think that is where all the old episodes are playing.

I agree that it's too much like a Soap now. It all started to go downhill when Sgt. Cruz joined the cast. She's 5 foot nothing and a hundred pounds, her "tough cop" schtick gets a bit annoying.

That actor who's paired with "Davis" is pretty good though. My son said his voice sounds just like Tobey "Spiderman" McGuire.

So.........Sullivan and Davis aren't partners anymore?
Dammit! I'm way out of the loop.

I have a BORING life so I am usually home on Friday nights. I like to watch, even though as other people have said it focuses too much on the PD and has basically become a soap opera. In spite of all that I can't seem to turn it off. I like Bosco.... he always says the things I'd love to say, but will get fired if I do! Other than that there are a couple of realism problems I notice sometimes.

As other guys said, Rescue Me is a good show. Can't wait for the new season.

I used to watch it all the time. First few seasons. After that it started getting un realistic. I mean come on, that much does not happen to everyday NYPD cops and firefighters.

I think The Shield is a much better show these days rather then Third Watch.

I use to watch it religiously when it fist came on back on 99...but now u hardly see the FF's and paramedics as others have stated..I mean "Doc" was the main dude and hes gone now...of course they still have most of the same 5-0. They did some really good shows on real things going on today, like when they did some episodes on 9-11..those were deon very well I must say...but again its a soap now..I watched it tonight and was lost on how "boscoe" got shot...so I myself am out of the loop as well. But hey thats tv shows for us. Nite all.

I used to love it, but I agree that it's way too much like a soap opera now. I will say that the actor who plays Bosco did his homework, he's VERY believeable.

I also agree with BRICK that Sgt. Cruz was the beginning of the downslide for that show.

You know what's funny... Bosco has always been the fan fav. but did you know that he got his start on Beverly Hills 90210... I just thought Id share that, cause as I too, like him on the show... I actually met him 2 years ago, and was a very stand up guy. I didn't identify myself, but still a nice guy.

That's my little spot light of fame... Other than getting to hold the World Series Trophy this year, that was only major highlight with fame...

Just the mention of Boscoe sends my wife into SMILES :D
Good for him, not for me. I do watch and have watched it since the begin. But it is alittle soapy. Yeah maybe they need to get back to the beginnings showing all three, NYPD, FDNY and NYCEMS. But it is still a good show.
Yeah they can get rid of Mauritza Cruz, she isnt really important in the show now that Boscoe is back.
My wife is reading doing homework and I said BOSCOE 'BIG SMILES...'
'I love Boscoe" Holy shiznits, I wish I could look like him.

My wife & I watch it every Friday. It's nice and NYPD looks like it's real with the old leather gear and run down stations etc.
Bosco is the typical gung ho cop, Sully the burnt out old guy pluggin' along till retirment but still doin the job.
Cruz wouldn't last a minute in real life and an IA snitch exposed would be outa there.

I dont watch a lot of TV, but 3rd Watch is one I watch religiously. I too have watched it since it started. And like most of you, Bosco is my favorite. My wife tells me that Bosco must be my long lost twin brother, cuz I tend to act just like him in a lot of ways. At least thats what she says. I'm with you guys though, they need to go back to the old format and depict the PD, FD and EMS.
I also like The Shield, Macky is cool. Rescue Me was good too, another one I watched a lot. Did anyone hear what I did? That Leary is leaving at the beginning of the new season? Those are about the only 3 shows that I have to watch, besides old episodes of Cops when my son finds it.

I don't really see how it has become so much like a soap??

If you think about it, since they pretty much only show the PD they have to focus more on their personal lives too, and even that isn't that much, each episode something new happens that they have to deal with, and there is just a small part that deals with personal issues.

just my .02

The show is great, but it is VERY realistic. I mean, almost all of the cops on the show have shot people on at least 2 occasions. Also, Doc going crazy and shooting up the firehouse? come on people... But yes, I also hate Sgt. Cruz, she annoys the hell outta me.

How DID Bosco hurt his eye? I missed that episode. For some reason my DVR didn't record it. :(

His eyesight is impaired as a result of being shot in the face at the end of last season.

Here's the short version:

Bosco's brother was a drug dealer. The other drug dealers killed him and at the funeral a car bomb was driven into the funeral home. Bosco's mother was hurt by the car and when they were all at the hospital more bad guy drug dealers came in with very big guns and shot the place up.

Bosco got shot jumping ontop of Yokas to protect her. She then became a hysterical female and screamed and cried while everyone else returned fire. When she recovered from her hysteria she shot the head bad guy. This was the guy that Cruz had just found and cuffed. Cruz and Yokas (mostly Cruz) then hatched a plan about how to cover it up.

It was found out through an IA investigation where Ofc Monroe was the "rat". Cruz was arrested and Yokas confessed in exchange for immunity. Cruz was released and Yokas (as would happen in any dpt in the country) was promoted meritoriously to detective. Now these two apparantly don't hate each other any more even though Cruz once shot Yokas an paralyzed her.

Bosco returns to work and goes to qualify on his duty weapon. He is now having trouble seeing out of his right eye (of course his shooting eye). He wanted Yokas to shoot for him but she said no. He somehow qualified and is back to work. A mere few months after getting shot in the face and being in the hospital for a very long time where the doctors were initially concerned if he would ever walk again.... let alone go back to work.

Okay.... probably not the shortest version possible, but now you know what's wrong with Bosco's eye. Some of you may have thought I was joking in my last post when I said I have a boring life and am able to keep up on this show. Unfortunately, I wasn't.... my life really is THAT boring

What's with al these weeks in-between new episodes? thats what i want to know...
The show is unrealistic in some ways but very entertaining. and they never said Cruz has HIV, it could be cancer. I put my mney on Cancer, because the doctor had asked her if she thought about treatment. Not much treatment for HIV, only the cocktail, but it would be too late in the game for that to even be offered...

Cruz isnt that hot anyways. maybe if you are snowed in for half of the year, and it is too hot and humid to go outside the other half.... (dont mean to offend anyone!)

Are you sure about that? It seems like NBC is finally getting the message, they're about to kill off that completely unrealistic, unbelieveable female Sergeant Cruz (she has terminal cancer), and they seem to be getting back to what worked in the beginning (mini-episodes within the show).

After friday's episode, the intro to the "scenes from the next third watch" started off by saying "there are only 3 episodes left." I took it as 3 left for this season, after all most show seasons end mid spring and go into re-runs all summer, right?

The website doesn't say anything about it being over. If you check out the site ( http://www.nbc.com/Third_Watch/index.html ) there's a little video and the caption underneath reads "The countdown to the series finale continues!"

I'm confused.

According to 3rdwatch.net (http://www.3rdwatch.net):

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - It's official -- NBC's "Third Watch" will not be returning for a seventh season.

The network has opted not to bring back the Warner Bros. TV/John Wells Prods. drama about cops, paramedics and firefighters serving the graveyard shift in New York.

Peabody-winning "Third Watch," on hiatus to make room for midseason entry "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," will return with the remainder of its sixth season, ending its run with a series finale.

Reuters/Hollywood Reporter

I don't know about the validity, since it's not an NBC owned site. If it's true, it certainly sucks.

That's my feelings on the matter too. I'll hate to see 3rd watch go but it makes it even worse to replace it with another Law & Order. How many times can you spin off law and order before you are repeating story lines.
CSI was ok in the beginning for an unrealistic show but then when you spin it off (Miami) and then spin it again (NY) it ruins the effect. Basically they are narrowing it down to making you watch the same type of show every night.

I kinda figured that 3rd Watch was going to be ending soon because their ratign went down after they got rid of the firefighters. It could still be a decent show if they put a little bit of effort into it again instead of having these long drawn out storylines that cover an entire season.

This goes along with ABC canceling High Incident several years back beacuse people said it was too realistic.
