Anybody have any tattoos?

I am considering getting one but have no idea of what.

I have the insignia of the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) on my right shoulder. Wearing a unit patch on your right shoulder in the Army signifies that you were in combat with that unit. I was with the 1st ID in the first Gulf War. Can't be seen, even with short sleeves.

When I a was in High School I used to skip a lot to go surfing and truly loved the ocean. So while on spring break in North Carolina I had one done to signify that. I had a great white on my left arm. Not very big but it can only be seen when I'm shirtless or in a tank top.
I've been planning on getting another one but haven't found thge right one. I think if you do get one, get one that has a meaning to you (Delta's is a great example of that). I see too many knuckleheads running around with flaming skull and the like which look dumb

That Guy made a great point, and I meant to mention it myself.

I know that I'll never regret getting my tattoo, because it signifies one of the most important/intense times of my life.

I have two...an eagle carrying a confederate Battle Flag on my right bicep(Can't be seen except in tank top or no shirt and a tazmanian devil holding a #3 over his head (Tribute to Dale Earnhardt) on my left calf. I am planning on getting another when I get home. Going to get the cresent moon and palmetto tree on my left bicep. Me and my best friend are going to get that one when I get home.

Wife even has one... only one though I can't talk her into another one yet. Her's is a treble cleft with a rose intertwined in it.

All of mine signify really important times in my life, and all but one were personally drawn and designed for me, with my help. (I have 4)

I have a sun/moon above my left ankle, 2 dolphins jumping thru waves into the sun above my right ankle, chinese symbols (gangi?) for Spring, Fall, and Winter on my left upper arm, with a crest below it, and a sun with clouds on the front of my right shoulder down my chest a little, which flows over my shoulder to the moon, stars, and night sky on my upper back. The largest and longest to do...but i love it! i have pics of them all...not real good ones, but i dont know if i can even post them.

I think tattoos are great, if you do them for yourself, and because YOU love them. I know people who are against them, but i am so happy i got them all, and i did it for me. I can easily hide them whenever i need to.

i have a few... 13 is considered few, no? ;) There's a ring of flowers around my belly button, set of 3 angel wings in a circle on my upper back, "chain bracelet" with American flag, PD symbol and FD symbol on my lower back, some flowers and tribal designs on both lower legs......

Some people will agree they are addicting :D

I will definitely agree with them being addicting. I would have more than the two I have now if it weren't for time/money constraints. Do you have any pictures of yours. Trying to convince the wife to get another one and am looking for designs.

While I was in the Marine Corps my squad all got our "meat tags". A meat tag is a dog tag tattooed on your rib cage. The idea is that if you step on a land mine, your boots (with the extra dog tag) and head are gone, leaving no way to ID you. The meat tags are relatively safe inside of your flak jacket.

When I was in the 25th ID (mid 80's) I saw a kid that had the electric strawberry tattooed on his left shoulder with 1986~ under it to show his tour of duty. I thought that silly. What if he stayed in and went to the 82nd? That would give him grief about his dedication to his current unit.

My wife wants one on the small of her back. I am working on a design for her. She is Eurasian, so I am intertwining the Asian and European cultures. 2 Asian dragons facing a Celtic knot that will be centered in the small of her back. The dragon tails going out towards her hips. Something along those lines anyway.

Whats worse than that heh, one guy in basic training, who also went to the same unit with me, got an airborne tattoo while in jump school, only poblem was that the artist spelled it "airbone" Needless to say, that guy got a ton of **** over it lol.

A friend of mine got a tattoo in the 1980's when the Fabulous Thunderbird's album "Tuff Enuff" was popular. The tattoo was the US eagle, with "U.S. Army" on top, and "Tuff Enuff" on the bottom.

The only problem was that the tattoo "artist" put "Tuff Enuef" on the bottom. :D

I thought about it about age 24, then thought twice when I thought of how it would look when I'm 74.
how's that for a mental pic?.......
never did decide what to get, or the best place to put it. so I never did.
I think I'm too old now to even worry about it.

I have thought about it 2 times in my life.
The first time was spur of the moment because my friend was getting one and I toyed with the idea, loked for the right one...the tatoo guy told me not to do it unless I was sure...I may regret it......so I decided to wait.

A year or so later, I puked before my boyfriend could get me to the place to do it...had been at a jello shot party....peer pressure.

Now, the whim I had as a young woman is gone......Plus, I have had enough accidents involving stitches, surgery and blood...I will pass of volunteering to have needles poked into my flesh..no matter how cool the end result may be.

where's the sexiest place for a tatoo?

guys opinion?
and girl opinion?

I'm not really a fan of tat's but I have seen some men that look kinda sexy if they just have one. I like the back of the shoulder on a guy.

Glockgirl26

I thought about getting one on the small of my back. But I'm not exactly a thin girl at the moment. so not so sexy........
the dolphin thing and the rose thing are both played out.
I'm thnking I'm gonna double link horseshoes together. That would fit me.
Grew up around horses, never been without one. Got 5 now.
Got any better ideas for a "hillbilly" as my friends call me?
or my one friend calls me "crackerass hillbilly" .

Remember, you ALWAYS want to get something that is important to you, or trust me, you'll regret it a few years later. ( I talk from experiance ) And you'd be surprised how much it cost to get 1 removed, or attempt to cover it up... I have 14 tats now, and in the process of having 2 removed, cause I was young and stupid....

Oh yea... Beware, they can become addicitive ;)

But I didn't think (personally) it looked good on her ankle.
It was too big, I think it would have looked good on the back of the shoulder.

IF a guy has VERY nicely built arms, then they look HOT on the bicep. But when the hot bicep turns to flab, it don't look so good anymore!

I agree with that one. My dad has one on his bicep, and he's 59 now. Doesn't look so good.
I don't really pay too much attention to it, but just kinda noticed one day how it looks bad.
Of course flab's gonna look bad whether it's got a tat or not!

I've thought about getting a Byzantine cross, a Triquetra (what it looks like (http://home.rochester.rr.com/gocek/images/christn/triquetra.gif)) or a Chi Rho (what it looks like (http://home.rochester.rr.com/gocek/images/christn/chirocrs.gif)) on my right bicep. They are symbols of my faith, which is very important to me.

However I don't have the money for it and I have to admit, I kind of like being ink free. All natural. ;)

I don't have any tats but have considered getting one recently. I agree that they should have some meaning. I see too many trendy ones for my taste.

Last year there a musclehead rookie amongst the new guys just out of the Academy. On his first day his FTO and the other guys began joking about his physique. He was laughing and pretending to flex. The uniform of the day was long sleeves but I sarcastically said "Let me guess, you have a tribal tattoo around your upper arm"?

His jaw dropped and he sheepishly replied "Ahhh, actually Sarge I do" as the roll call room broke out in laughter. Is this tattoo some type of requirement for bodybuilders? :D

I have 2 tattoos:

Inner Left forearm: Eagle, globe, and anchor over the initials "USMC" - got this one after I completed Marine Corps basic training

Inner Right forearm: a fist encircled by Laurel leaves with the words "Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan - this one I got because it's a tradition in my Karate academy that all the black belts get the same tattoo on the same arm. The fist surrounded by the Laurel leaves represents outer peace and inner strength.

I'm currently considering getting a dragon on my right arm between the shoulder and elbow. Something a little bit different, like a hybrid of a traditional oriental dragon and a fantasy art type dragon.

I only have my ears pierced. I had my nose pierced (nostril) but I could kinda see it and it drove me nuts, so after 2 days took it out. I also had my septum pierced (couldn't see that one) up until about 5 years ago.

Sorry no TATs here, its against my religion, not that Iam religious but it is the quickest way to a divorce :D Yeah If I got 1 it would be 2 actually-
1 is a pair of drumsticks in an X with handcuffs around them,
The other would be some type of Twin Towers, Eagle, 9-11 tribute. Might be alittle big but hey, I lost some old aquaintances and tons of brothers and sisters :(
Iam sure the religious questons will follow ;)

Guy from my old department was a k9 for many years, his Rottie was the greatest. If he came up to you before roll call and he sat on your feet or rubbed against you you better scratch him for awhile or he would never let you leave, he was about 125lbs. When he died a few years ago he got his dogs face inked on his back. Real nice tribute to 'Louie'

Like i said, the over-the-shoulder one, which is my favorite, doesnt show up the colors real good. the back of it is with the moon, stars, and night sky. the front of it is the sun. the sun/moon above my ankle is much more colorful than it looks, too. i will take better pictures soon.

I have 5. The first one I got was a double strand of barbed wire around my upper left arm. I get it after I finished infantry school in the Marines. I have wanted one since I was in Jr High School, and that was the one I always wanted. So that one has meaning I guess. I have a set of meat tags on my right side, Comedy and tragedy skulls on my upper right arm. I didnt realize it when I got it, but it looks similar to Motley Crue's Theater of Pain album cover. I have an eagle's head surrounded by tribal work above my barb wire, and I have eagles wings with the harley davidson bar and shield on my right lower leg. I like eagles (the bird) so when I get another one, it is going to be some type of eagle design.
