Along those lines Lady I first started in Law Enforcement in San Diego with their reserve unit making Sgt in 18 months of which 2 years is supposed to be the minimum. Made me a Sgt at 22 yrs. Got out ofd the Navy and instead of going full time I went to Florida. Unfortunately even though a number of Depts wanted me, some pretty badly too, my eyesight was less that 20/40 uncorrected which at that time was the law. Ended up in South Carolina and spent 11 yrs there before being forced into retirement because of line of duty injuries. Soon as the legal stuff was settled I moved right back down here to beautiful St Augustine. I may not be able to work anymore but I can still hang out with my friends in Law Enforcement here in the City and County.

Nope not Pasco SO I graduated PHCC Police Academy in December. I tried to get into Pasco but I was too honest about something I did 15 years ago and they have a no tolerance policy. So that I am not so vague I tried Cocaine back in 85 when I was 15 years old and when they asked on the application I listed it as yes cause it asks have you ever. They did tell me however that that policy needs to change and that they will work on it because other places only look back to 5 years and even then it couldnt have been heavy use Oh well Honesty is what LE is about so I was honest. Anyway you work in Collier currently?

A Deputy Sheriff in Northeast Florida.
If I had to start all over agian then I would probably have went with FHP. You go to their academy and they pay you for it. And if it doesnt work out well at a troop you ask for a transfer to another one. Now it is alittle late in the game for me, having a house and a child (not to mention state retirement time invested).
For you all just starting out, I would try and choose an agency that has a union (if you want to go to a medium-large size department).
STAY SAFE

Now that's funny. I have a veteran that is 4 months shy of 20 years on my squad and he insists on calling all of us with less than 8 years on Zip Codes because his ID number is 4 digits and ours are 5 digits.

Nice to see the "zip code" tag goes from agency to agency :)

Just wanted to say hey. I'm in N. Florida working in the crime lab for FDLE and waiting for my application process to finish for a sworn reserve position locally. I'm very anxious to get on the road. A good friend of mine used to work for Collier County and loved it and I know a few from Plantation too.. I think they were Lieutenants though.
